Boker Newton Martin K-Bit & Pocket Sheath Package from Blade Rigs

Blade Rigs makes some of the most purpose driven knife sheaths available. They excel at developing sheaths for small, self-defense oriented knives and often offer packages that bundle a knife with one of their sheaths. Their latest such package includes the Boker Newton Martin K-Bit and one of their pocket sheaths.

The Newton Martin K-Bit is a compact karambit design that will pretty much disappear in your pocket. The sheath is designed to be compact enough to compliment the K-Bit. It features a large thumb tab that can be used to push the sheath off with your thumb or caught on your pocket during the draw.

Ares Armor – When a Sign is More than a Sign

Ares Armor is currently at odds with the local government of National City, California which is the location of their second store. The dispute centers around a sign on top of the store which the city says must come down. However, Ares Armor contends that the sign has been standing since the 1950’s and that the city has only taken issue with since they used it to advertise their paperwork free, completely legal, 80% lower AR-15 builds.

You can read more about the situation at PredatorBDU Blog and Guns.com. The PredatorBDU link includes a video from Nutnfancy, who love him or hate him, visited the National City store first hand and actually appears to have unintentionally uncovered what is suspected by many to be some form of local police surveillance on the store.

Ares Armor is standing their ground against the city via every legal means possible and, as you can imagine, that is costly. Now might be a good time for your to pick up some of the Ares Armor gear that you have wanted for a long time like the Combat XII Pack, Micro Belt, or slick new Derma Plate Carrier. If none of those fit your budget, maybe a t-shirt or bumper sticker is more your speed.

You might also consider contacting the mayor and city council of National City on behalf of Ares Armor.

V7 Weapon Systems Ultra-Light Forward Assist

Lightweight AR-15 builders have taken several approaches to lightening the forward assist. Some have removed it and used plastic plugs to full the hole that is left behind. Others use upper receivers that lack a forward assist to begin with. Both of these approaches leave you without a functional forward assist which, while it may not always be needed, it is nice to have. Now there is another option for shedding weight at the forward assist – the V7 Ultra-Light Forward Assist.

The V7 Ultra-Light Forward Assist, like many other V7 Ultra-Light parts, is made from 7075 T6 aluminum which is hard coat anodized. The small foot that engages the carrier is made from hardened 4140 steel for longevity. It weighs just 9.2 grams or 55% lighter than the standard forward assist.

BFG UWL for Left Handed AK Shooters

It can be a bit of a challenge to mount a sling on an AK-47 (or AK-74) for the left-handed shooter. The rear sling point can usually be worked with but the front sling attachment point isn’t very forgiving for lefties. I have helped a few left handed shooters set up AKs and I always recommend using a Blue Force Gear UWL to turn the standard handguard cap hook mount into a lefty-friendly sling attachment point.

I first noticed Larry Vickers using the UWL in this way shortly after they came out. It is the best solution that I have seen for left handed AK shooters. Now, Blue Force Gear has been kind enough to make a video showing how it works.

CANIS Design Group – MOE Handguard Kits for the VEPR

CANIS VEPR MOE 2

CANIS Design Group is working to bring the Magpul MOE Hand Guards to the VEPR. They will be offering kits that will allow VEPR owners to mount the MOE hand guards in place of the original front handguard and gas tube cover. Perhaps more importantly, this will bring an entirely new set of sling mount, vertical grip, hand stop, and light mount options to the VEPR.

The handguards will mount without modification to the host rifle though the handguards themselves are modified. They mount via the factory screw and 2 provided retainer plates.
