PredatorBDU will not only be the first retailer to carry the 20$Bandit Mini Kit MK-7, they will be the exclusive source for the A-TACS AU version. I have one in hand for review and can testify that they look great.

MI Keymod Panel Covers

Midwest Industries just released their own KeyMod compatible, plastic hand guard covers. I have used their similar covers that they designed for use with their SS Gen-2 Hand Guards and they are excellent.

MI KeyMod panel covers

The best news is that these panels use mechanical hardware. The current plastic hand guard covers that are available snap in place and can be a pain to install and they come loose over time. The new MI panels should be much easier to deal with though perhaps just a bit heavier.

These will be offered as sets initially. One set will include 3 regular panels. The other set will include two regular panels and a panel with an integral handstop. They may be offered individually at a later date.

The Keymod Panel Covers will be available at Midwest Industries soon.

550 FireCord

Live Fire Gear’s Kickstarter campaign for 550 FireCord (see previous post) smashed its initial fund raising goal in no time. It is no surprise because everyone loves paracord and everyone loves fire starters. Combining them in a useful way like 550 FireCord does is bound to be a hit.

The original offering was going to be offered in only one color option (black with a red line) until manufacturing was in place and demand could be established. The additional funding has given them the ability to offer additional colors right out of the gate. They have already received enough funding to offer black/red, solid black, and safety orange. If their funding continues to grow, they will offer additional colors like Multicam, red, OD Green, and more.

ROSCH Works SLM1 Initial Pictures

This is not a review. I have only had the new ROSCH Works SLM1 for a short time so more time will need to be spent with it before a full opinion can be formed. If you have not been following its development, the SLM1 is a weapon light mount with an integrated front sight. It is designed to allow the user to mount lights like the Surefire Fury on the top rail of an extended free-float handguard.

The SLM1 arrived before I could purchase a Surefire Fury to go with it so I used it with an Elzetta ZFL-M60 for a short time. Use of the Elzetta required tape to shim the light since the tolerances are very tight on this mount. It is made to be used with 1″ diameter lights +/- .005″ inch. The Elzetta light is around .95″ in diameter, hence the tape. If this initial size is successful, you will likely see other sizes that will work with other lights.

So far I am impressed, though my round count is very low. The large bezel of the Fury is no concern at all. It is even less noticeable than most pistol style lights mounted in front of a separate front sight. The double cross bolts should make this very secure. The front sight post is slightly slimmer than a standard front sight post which I like.

The pictures on this post are from the JTT Instagram account (@triggerjerk). I should note that this is a pre-production version of the mount so some changes are likely.

These will be available from ROSCH Works soon. Stay tuned for the full review.
