RE Factor Tactical Tourniquet Holder

RE Factor Tactical has introduced a Tourniquet Holder with some interesting functionality. They claim that it is the first tourniquet holder that is designed to be carried either overtly or covertly.

The tourniquet holder utilizes 2 straps that can be weaved into MOLLE webbing, secured to a belt, and that hold the tourniquet (TQ) horizontally. This horizontal mounting position makes sense for placing the TQ high on the center line of the wearer when wearing it overtly. The straps are tied together so that the user needs only to pull in one place to release the TQ rather than pulling two separate straps. The straps have elastic sections that allow the RE Factor Tactical Tourniquet Holder to fit a wide variety of TQs.

The back of the RE Factor Tactical Tourniquet Holder is covered with hook material so when you need to covertly carry a TQ, you can locate the holder inside of a loop lined bag. Internal loop fields are becoming more and more common in EDC, police, and military bags.

D.A.R.K. Gen2 from Dark Angel Medical

I was recently searching for a blow out kit pouch with a slimmer profile than one that I am currently using and a friend recommended that I take a look at Dark Angel Medical. Dark Angel Medical produces what they call the Direct Action Response Kit or D.A.R.K. which consists of a custom designed pouch and some proven trauma treatment supplies. The pouch that is used to carry the DARK is also available for purchase separately.

DARK full kit, shown with M4 mag for scale.

The pouch has been redesigned by Dark Angel Medical and produced by FirstSpear. It is barely larger than a double M4 magazine pouch and mounts to only 2 columns of MOLLE (versus 3 or 4 for some med pouches). Despite it’s compact dimensions, it still allows ready access to its life saving cargo. There is a pouch on the front that allows immediate access to a tourniquet. The pouch is sized to fit most common tourniquets like the CAT or SOF-T wide.

The majority of the components (gloves, HALO chest seals, nasal airway, compressed gauze, and 4″ Israeli bandage) are carried in the main pouch that features a reverse opening flap. The full coverage flap opens opposite of the way most pouches do. It hinges at the front of the pouch which makes sense since the person opening the pouch may also be the person wearing the pouch.Once the pouch is open, there is an elevator strap that can be pulled to lift the interior components out of the pouch part way for easy access. It also features webbing on the sides that allow the user to carry trauma shears, a Sharpie marker, or compression needle.

The DARK is available in black, ranger green, coyote brown, and Multicam. Check it out at DarkAngelMedical.com.

Beez Combat Systems AK TAP (Tactical Assault Panel)

Beez Combat Systems (BCS) is introducing the first tactical assault panel that is designed specifically for the AK – the AK TAP. BCS has had multiple requests for TAP style rigs and they have seen a general trend in this direction. They decided it was time to bring this functionality to the AK.

The AK TAP looks to be quite versatile. It can be mounted to armor or a plate carrier or be used as a stand alone load carriage platform with the included “Y” harness. The “Y” harness is also configured to allow the user to attach a hydration carrier.

The panel itself uses BCS’ typical chest rig configuration with 3 magazine pouches. This design gives the user an uninterrupted 10×3 MOLLE field to customize and has individual magazine pouches to prevent mags from contacting each other. Each pouch has a shock cord retainer to retain the magazines. The panel also features a rear pocket for additional storage and a shape that allows it to ride high without interfering with the wearer’s arms or draw stroke.

You can check out the new AK TAP at BeezCombatSystems.com.

Zulu Nylon Gear Indy Satchel

If you are a big fan of the Indiana Jones film franchise or just a fan of cool nylon gear with classic styling, you are going to love the Indy Satchel from Zulu Nylon Gear. This new bag is a modernization of the classic WWII British MKVII gas mask bag that is the constant companion of Doctor Jones.

The exterior looks surprisingly original even though the materials are all very modern (double layer 1000D nylon and milspec hardware). The interior sports some modern organization potential in the form of a large loop field for use with hook-backed pouches. There is also a slip pocket on the interior that has a hook and loop closure and webbing loops on the back for attaching a waist strap (not included).

The Indy Satchel is a limited edition that won’t last long. It is not accessible from the main Zulu Nylon Gear website, you can click here to be taken to a special page on the Zulu Nylon Gear website.
