RS Regulate BM-1 Light Mount

It has always been a little bit a challenge to mount a white light on AK-47 (and similar) rifles, especially if you don’t want to have a railed hand guard on your rifle. RS Regulate has a simple and attractive solution in their BM-1 light mount.

The BM-1 is designed to mount to the barrel between the gas block and hand guard retaining cap. It places a small 1913 rail section in the perfect position to work in conjunction with an offset light mount. This is a great solution because AK hand guards are cramped enough as it is. Pushing the light forward like this leaves more room for the support hand on the hand guard and allows more intuitive activation.

Tactical Handyman: Cat Tail/Throw Lever – 2 for $20

Cat Tails are rings with a protruding lever that clamp onto the magnification adjustment ring of an optic to make it easier to turn so you can move between magnification ranges quickly. They are very handy for jut about any magnified optic but they are especially useful on the low power variable magnification optics that are so popular in tactical shooting and 3 Gun Competition.

Typically, these Cat Tails cost $50-60 for one since they must be precision machined from aluminum to fit an individual optic. However, you know that when the Tactical Handyman comes around, you aren’t going to pay $50-60. I’ll show you how to get 2 of them for around $20.

The secret is a product that is designed to hold fishing reels on a fishing rod – Breakaway Nylon Coasters (NC-1 Universal). I first saw this handy hack posted on the Sniper’s Hide Forum by a user named strat81. They are somewhat like a cross between a hose clamp and a cable tie. You simply wrap the nylon cable around your optic’s magnification ring, turn the knob until it is tight, and then trim the excess cable. It is that easy.

Boker Plus Toucan

Multi-tools come in many forms. There are the typical pliers-based tools that are so common and the original Swiss Army Knives were multi-tools long before anyone knew the word “multi-tool.” More recently, a new breed of multi-tool has hit the scene. These tools are sometimes called pocket tools or keychain tools and one of the better known examples is the Toucan from Jared Price.

Boker now makes a product version of the Toucan in their Boker Plus line. It features a small knife edge, a pry tip, a screw driver, and bottle opener. The production version is made from 440C steel and features a small kydex sheath that covers the cutting edge so the user can open bottles or pry without the knife edge exposed. The whole package weighs a little more than an ounce and is around 3 inches long.

Law Tactical Gen 2 AR Folding Stock Adapter

Have you ever thought it would be nice to have a folding stock on you AR-15? I suspect that most of you have and you are not alone which is exactly why Law Tactical makes their AR Folding Stock Adapter.

The AR Folding Stock Adapter is a hinged mechanism that can be installed between the lower receiver and receiver extension (buffer tube) on any standard AR-15 lower. It allows the stock to fold to the bolt release side of the receiver. Due to the nature of the AR-15 recoil system, it should not be fired while the stock is folded which is potentially a very large downside to this adapter since there is nothing to prevent the user from firing.

The Generation 2 AR Folding Stock Adapter will be released very soon. It features several improvements over the original version including:

  • Lower profile housing
  • Redesigned hinge system with steel shoulder bolt
  • Enlarged steel locking lug
  • Adjustable hinge tension (holds stock in folded position)
  • Steel locking latch
  • Quick detach sling attachment point
  • Adjustable steel bolt carrier extension

S&W M&P Armorer and Maintenance Packages from G&R Tactical

If you shoot the Smith & Wesson M&P take note. G&R Tactical is now offering two parts packages that will help keep your M&P up and running.

The first package is for regular maintenance. S&W recommends that the guide rod assembly, trigger return spring, and magazine springs be changed every 5000 rounds, so this package contains all of those items (1 guide rod assembly, 1 trigger return spring, and 2 magazine springs). You can order additional magazine springs if needed.

The second package is what G&R Tactical calls an Armorer’s Package. It contains the parts that are most often broken or lost – striker assembly, slide stop assembly, take down lever retaining wire, and trigger bar assembly.
