Battle Systems LLC Vinyl Tape Heat Test

Battle Systems LLC is out to prove that their tape can take whatever abuse you throw at it while it is attached to your gear. Other vinyl tapes turn to a gooey mess when they are exposed to heat, but Battle Systems’ Vinyl Tape, Coyote Brown shrugs off the heat of an AR-15 barrel after a mag dump with no visible loss of integrity. It stays stuck and doesn’t leave a mess when removed. Every Tactical Handyman needs some of this tape!

Battle Arms Development News

There is a lot of good news coming out of Battle Arms Development (BAD) lately. They recently dropped me a note to bring me up to speed on everything they have going on.

Active and Retired Military, Law Enforcement, Fire, and EMS Discount

It is pretty well known that BAD offers a discount to Military, Law Enforcement, Fire, and EMS personnel. However, not many people know that they offer this same discount to retired Military, Law Enforcement, Fire, and EMS personnel as well! In the past, they have done this quietly because it can be difficult to verify but now they are making this policy public. They appreciate the service of these public defenders, both active and retired. If you fit the above requirements and would like information on obtaining the discount code, simply email Roger at roger@battlearmsdevelopment.com.

Roger tells me that it is their hope that more companies will follow their example in offering this discount to retired military, law enforcement, fire, and EMS personal.

It’s Official: Unconditional Lifetime Warranty

BAD already had an unofficial, unconditional lifetime warranty on their products. They back their products as well as anyone. Now they are making that policy official. Which is a pretty low risk proposition for them considering how hard you would have to try to actually break one of their selectors. The only exception is the 45 degree short throw selectors – removing the pin block to allow these selectors to work in standard lowers has legal ramifications, so it has to be excluded from the unconditional warranty. Anyting that they sell that is manufactured by someone else (Geissele and ALG triggers, KNDS products, Norgon Ambi-Catch, etc.) are covered under their respective manufacturers’ warranty.

ALG Combos

Speaking of ALG Triggers… Battle Arms Development is now offering some excellent deals on the new ALG Triggers bundled with the BAD-ASS. You can save some cash when you buy both. They also offer combos with many of the Geissele triggers. Check out the combos on BattleArmsDevelopment.com.

VLTOR SCAR Stock

VLTOR knows a thing or two about making stocks, especially for the AR-15/M-16. Now they are applying that know-how toward making an improved stock for the FN SCAR.

The VLTOR SCAR Stock features beefed up construction versus the OE SCAR stock. It has a hinged buttpad that conceals a storage compartment capable of storing cleaning rod sections and spare batteries (or other small items). Impact resistance is increased with a metal strike plate. There are QD sling swivel sockets located high on the stock.

There are also some ergonomic improvements. The front of the stock is shaped and textured to act as a hand hold when shooting from the prone with the rifle supported. The concave buttpad shape of the OE stock has been replaced with a negative pitch that allows the SCAR to move from low ready to a firing position more naturally.

The VLTOR SCAR Stock retains all of the folding and adjustment of the OE stock and uses the same hardware. The stock allows sufficient clearance to fire the rifle even while the stock is folded.

Be Heard: Zombie Themed Firearms and Accessories

In the last installment of Be Heard, I asked what discontinued piece of gear you would like to see brought back. That is a pretty broad question so answers varied widely but at least two people asked for the return of the Blue Force Gear DAP backpacks.

This week, I want to get your opinion on a marketing trend that is really gaining ground in the shooting industry – zombies. The zombie themed advertising has even caught the eye off the media recently (here is just one of many examples). It seems that there are manufacturers releasing new zombie themed products daily.

So now is your chance to Be Heard – Are zombie themed firearms and firearm accessories harmless fun or do they attract unwanted attention?

Godspeed Tactical Universal Machete Sheath

Even the cheapest machetes can be versatile and efficient tools but they rarely come with a useful sheath. Finding a sheath that fits your machete can be hit and miss unless you live near a store that carries several that you can try. Unfortunately stores like that are very rare. Godspeed Tactical has a versatile solution that machete proponents will love – a universal machete sheath.

The sheath is formed from kydex and is purposely designed to allow it to carry machetes of varying shapes. It is available in two lengths that will cover most of the common machete lengths – one for shorter machetes (12-14”) and one for longer (15-18”). You can also add optional accessory pouches for carrying various small pieces of survival gear.

Godspeed Tactical also makes sheaths for specific machetes. Check out Godspeed Tactical’s website for more details.
