Echo Nine Three V4/QD – Perfect AK Underfolder Sling Mounting Solution

If you own an AK with an underfolding stock, get a box of tissues because tears of joy are about to flow down your face and I don’t think I am overstating this (maybe a little). Underfolder stocked AKs are notoriously hard to sling. Well, that is about to change when the Echo Nine Three V4/QD Sling plates are released.

E93 V4QD

The picture shown above is a prototype mounted on an AK with an underfolder. We have talked about the V4/QD before but only in the context of use on AK pistols. Now that I have seen this, I think these are going to jump the head of a very short line of sling mounting options for underfolders. It positions the sling at the rear of the receiver where it can be used for single and two point sling applications and is tucked nicely out of the way. It uses standard push button QD swivels and is fully ambidextrous.

Installation is just as simple as the other Echo Nine Three Sling Plates. Just remove your grip, drop on the Sling Plate, and re-install the grip.

That sound that you hear is the joyful exclamations of AK underfolder shooters everywhere. These should be available in the next few weeks. Check out Echo93.com.

Zombie Tinder

The zombie craze is starting to fade in the gun world (thank goodness) but I did come across one zombie themed item recently that got my attention. Zombie Tinder is an easy to use emergency fire starting aid.

Zombie Tinder

Zombie Tinder makes 2 different sized tinder balls – Wet Weather Tinder and Dry Weather Tinder. They are available in kits that contain different mixes of the 2 depending on where you plan on using them. If you are going to be in the rain forests of the Northwest, then you’ll need a longer burning tinder for starting fires with wet wood. If you are going to be trekking across a desert, then shorter burn times will suffice.

Each kit comes in a tin that can be used a number of different ways. It is reflective for emergency signaling, can be used to boil water, make char cloth, or just carry small items.

I watched Dry Weather Tinder burn for just under 15 minutes which was impressive to say the least. The larger Wet Weather Tinders can be burn longer than 20 minutes according to the manufacturer. Check out ZombieTinder.com.

UW Gear Adds PenCott Webbing

UW Gear just placed an order for the new Hyde Definition PenCott Webbing (PredatorBDU blog has the details on the new webbing). This printed webbing will now be standard on all their PenCott camo chest rigs. I can tell you that this webbing matches the patterns very well in my limited experience with the Badlands pattern. UW Gear had a sample of the webbing that they used on an AK Swampfox MKII that I ordered.

I also ordered a Ranger Green Minuteman MKII with Coyote Brown pull tabs and I am really happy with how it turned out. UW Gear used Coyote Brown hardware and stitching which makes for a very attractive color combo. The contrasting color makes the pull tabs easier to see.

NukoTools Tactical Butter Knife

Close your eyes and think of a butter knife. I bet the one you are thinking of looks nothing like the unholy offspring of an Inuit ulu and brass knuckles but the upcoming Tactical Butter Knife from NukoTools does!

Nuko Tools Butter Knife

The Tactical Butter Knife is ground from titanium and features deep, wicked serrations. The G-10 scales have a random, “organic” texture and are held on with titanium bolts.

The sheath and pricing are still to be determined, but I will let you know whatever I know just as soon as I know it. Check out the NukoTools website.
