UW Gear Experimental Mag Pouch

We rarely get a glimpse behind the curtain but the guys at UW Gear are constantly experimenting with new ideas. They recently built a few pouches using the WTFix backing from Whiskey Two-Four and are currently putting it through the wringer.

The WTFix system consists of several base components that are made of Hypalon that is laser cut to standard sizes and shapes. The benefit to the gear maker is reduced time and cost while the end user benefits with less weight and increased durability.

At this point, these pouches are prototypes only and are not available to order. This is just a rare glimpse into the development process of a gear maker and a very cool look at how collaboration is potentially helping to make your gear better.

Custom Call Sign Patches from Perroz Designs

There are a few places that can make you good quality call sign patches with various combinations of letters and numbers. If you want something a bit more custom and intricate, your options are pretty slim. Perroz Designs is one of the few manufacturers I know willing to take on such work and they do it very well. They recently did some excellent work for my friends at Blue Force Gear that is worth showing off.

The custom patches that they created will be seen at SHOT Show, so they have to look good. The patches feature IR reflective or 3M SOLAS visibile light reflective backings with Wolf Grey nylon covering.

Smith & Bradley Atlantis Custom Experience

Smith & Bradley’s Atlantis watch is now available in several versions. The Atlantis Custom is available with multiple dial colors and either a Swiss Quartz or Swiss Automatic movement. The newer Atlantis Rogue sports a great looking black PVD finish with still more dial color options. That is a lot of options and combinations for a single watch but Smith & Bradley is taking the options a step beyond that. They are now offering full custom Atlantis watches with an amazing variety of options.

When you purchase a custom Atlantis, you can choose among several options for the following:

  • Case finish – You can go with the classic stainless, black PVD, or maybe try a custom Cerakote option.
  • Hand set – There are multiple hand sets to choose from.
  • Dial color – Orange. Go with orange.
  • Strap/Bracelet
  • Box
  • Engraving

Smith & Bradley calls it the Custom “Experience” for a reason. There are multiple meetings with Smith  & Bradley themselves included in the price to make sure the watch turns out exactly like you imagined it. You can even go pick it up when its done and enjoy some BBQ with them.

The whole process sounds like a lot of fun and, at the end, you end up with a custom watch.

ALG Defense AK Trigger Update

ALG Defense, the sister company of Geissele Automatics which is run by Amy Geissele, stirred up quite a bit of excitement with a preview of their upcoming AK trigger. Since that initial post on the trigger, I have found new details regarding the trigger.

ALG_DEFENSE_AK_Trigger

There will be two different types of AK triggers available from ALG Defense. The first variation will be a standard trigger that will retail for $49. The second variation will have a shorter and lighter trigger pull that Bill Geissele states will be similar to the Geissele Automatics SD3G trigger. The SD3G is known for its rolling break and very fast reset which leads to split times around 1/10th of a second in the hands of skilled users. It will retail for around $75.

You can expect to see both triggers at SHOT Show in the Geissele Automatics/ALG Defense booth and, notably, at the SHOT Show range day media event. That means these are far along enough in development that there will be working triggers available to try in February. That is exciting news.
