Manitcore Arms Eclipse Flash Hider for AKs

The new Manticore Arms Eclipse Flash Hider for AKs that we mentioned a few weeks ago is now available in 3 different thread patterns that should cover most of the commonly available AK pattern rifles on the market…

I have tested the Eclipse for the AR-15 and its performance is impressive. It is right up there with other top flash suppression performers. I suspect that it will be just as impressive on the AK, especially with ammo like Golden Tiger which is less flashy than most of the cheap, steel cased offerings on the market.

RE Factor Tactical Chemlight Pocket

The RE Factor Tactical Chemlight Pocket is designed to keep 4 chemlights close at hand. It attaches via hook and loop to the upper arm pocket found on many modern uniform and combat shirts and features 4 internal elastic loops to retain the chemlights. The exterior of the Chemlight Pocket is covered with loop side Velcro so that you can use the flap on your uniform shirt to close the pocket and so you can continue to use the space for patches and ID.

The Chemlight Pocket adds dedicated chemlight carrying capability to your gear without taking up any additional pocket space or loop material real estate. Check it out at RE Factor Tactical.

RETA Kydex Mag/Pistol Light Holder

This is an interesting idea that I am still trying to get my head around how I feel about it. RETA Kydex is now offering a light rail customization option for their Kydex magazine carrier (pistol and rifle). The option places a small section of rail on the carrier so that you can attach your pistol light and keep it close at hand without needing to have a light specific holster for your handgun.

On one hand, I can see the utility of this and I think it could be useful for some shooters. On the other, I would much rather have my light mounted and ready. Regardless, this is an interesting product and I am glad to see Kydex benders like RETA Kydex continuing to innovate.

Check out RETA Kydex on Facebook.

Cyclop Survival Sheath Prototype from EDC Survival Tools

Velcro has become very common place both on the inside and outside of packs. EDC Survival Tools is showing off a new Kydex sheath that capitalizes on this trend. Their Cyclop Survival Sheath is a Velcro backed Kydex sheath that is designed to carry a small fixed blade knife and a fire starter, though it could just as easily be adapted to other items like AAA battery flashlights.

The prototype is shown with a Boker Grasshopper and an Exotac nanoStriker. It is made from Multicam pattern Kydex and features a small glowing insert that can help you locate in low-light conditions.

This looks like a very trim and easy to access solution for carrying common EDC items. Check out the EDC Survival Tools Facebook page.

Gearward A-K Band

Gearward’s A-K Band, or Anti-Kidnapping Band, is an extremely discreet kit that can keep a few effective escape tools close at hand, even if you are restrained. The kit consists of a bit of ranger band, a polymer handcuff key, a ceramic razor blade, and a 4′ length of Kevlar cord to use as a friction saw. The ranger band allows you to stow all of the contents of the kit on your watch band where it nearly disappears once covered by the folded over excess of the watch band.

The kit is completely non-metallic and since it is carried on your watch, it can theoretically be accessed while you are restrained (assuming you are allowed to keep your watch). As with any kit of this sort, I highly recommend that you spend some time learning and practicing its use before you need it.

You can find the A-K Band at Gearward and, while you are there, check out their extensive pictures on the A-K Band’s use.
