Chinook Medical TMK-IFAK

Chinook Medical just unveiled their new TMK-IFAK, a modular blow out kit pouch with seemingly endless features. The TMK-IFAK pouch consists of 2 main components, the insert and the pouch, that can be used separately as stand-alone items or used together as a functional unit.

The TMK-IFAK insert is not unlike similar inserts that are already on the market. It is a clam-shell folding platform with various elastic loops to be used to retain and organize your IFAK contents. Chinook Medical took care to design the elastic organization so that items could be removed without disrupting other items. It is designed to be used with the TMK-IFAK pouch or alone and inserted in most double M4 magazine pouches.

The TMK-IFAK pouch is a tall slender pouch that requires only 2 columns of PALS webbing to mount. The exterior of the pouch features PALS webbing on the sides and 3″ elastic tourniquet retainer on the bottom. The interior of the pouch features a wide webbing strap that functions as a lifter for pulling out the contents of the pouch and a leash for the insert.

Both the TMK-IFAK pouch and insert are available separately. They are also available to be purchased together with or without contents.

Ares Armor 5.45 AR15 Barrel & Bolt Combo Package

Are you sitting on a pile of 5.45×39 spam cans that you hoarded before the recent import ban? Do you wish you could put all that ammo through something other than an AK-74? Ares Armor wants to help you put that ammo to good use. They just released a 5.45 AR15 Barrel & Bolt Combo Package that will let you build an AR-15 chambered in 5.45.

The included barrel is 16″ long with a 1 in 8″ twist, carbine gas system, and an M4 profile. It is made from 4142 steel and nitride processed which is a huge plus when dealing with corrosive ammo. The bolt is made from Carpenter 158 steel and Ares Armor says that it meets or exceeds the TDP.

This kit is extremely affordable at the sale price of 179.93. Even with the supplies of surplus 5.45 drying up, steel-cased commerical ammo will continue to be available and the cartridge is better suited to the AR platform than 7.62×39. So, if you are the type who wants an AR-15 chambered in one of the inexpensive Russian calibers, this could be a great option.

Halloran Knives STX-VE: Viking Edition

When I think of Halloran Knives, I usually think of compact self-defense blades but their latest design is a full-size, purebred fighter.

The STX-VE: Viking Edition is a new, stretched out version of their popular STX-T model. It has a similar double edged, American tanto blade shape but the length has been stretched. The STX-VE also benefits from the addition of small integral guard and a larger choil to go with it. The example shown is ground from 5/32″ thick S30V steel and features Halloran Knive’s typical textured micarta scales.
