Midwest Industries just released information about their soon to be released M-LOK QD Sling Socket. It seems strange (since you would think a sling mount would be a priority item) but I think this may be the first dedicated sling mount to be released for the M-LOK attachment system. It is machined from 6061 aluminum, hard anodized, and weighs .6 ounces. You can expect it to retail for less than $25.
Gunstruction Adds Sig SB15 and Other New Parts
Gunstruction just dropped a huge haul of new parts into their application. I know several of you who are planning AR pistol builds will be glad to see that the SB15 AR Pistol Brace is among the new parts.

BlackPoint Tactical Multitasker Pouch
BlackPoint Tactical recently started carrying Multitasker Tools and, being a kydex bender, they also have a pouch to carry your Multitasker. The pouch is like their other MAP (Modular Accessory Pouches) and Leather Wing holsters in that it features the leather wing assemblies for which BlackPoint Tactical has become known. These wings allow for a flexible linkage between other pouches which leads to improved comfort when worn linked with other pouches or alone.
Dissipator Fans Rejoice – Sionics Developing Dissipator Barrel
The folks at Sionics Weapon Systems always seem to have a few interesting things in the pipeline. They recently let slip that one of those interesting things is a Dissipator barrel! This would be a great addition to a market that is very thin when it comes to quality Dissipator and Mock Dissipator options.
There is no real time frame available for the release of the barrel… so don’t hold your breath.
Make Your Own Artsy-Fartsy Cutout Photos with Gunstruction
Gunstruction recently posted a very cool photo to their Facebook page of a near perfect “cutout” of a carbine. They claimed that they did it without photoshop, using nothing but native Gunstruction Photo Mode functionality. I took that as a challenge and had to figure out how to do it for myself.
Lucky for you, I figured it out and I feel like sharing.
- Visit the Gunstruction website. I hate that I have to mention this step but if I don’t some goof will email me and ask how to get there.
- Configure your AR-15 the way you want it. I won’t hold your hand here. It’s your carbine. Have some fun with it.
- Click the Paint button on the main screen to enter the Paint menu.
- Click the Color button to paint the entire carbine single color.
- Choose “Duracoat White”.
- Click the Apply to All button.

- Click the Back button to return to the main screen.
- Click the Photo button to enter the photo menu. You can fiddle with any of the settings that you like. I will only mention those that are responsible for creating the desired effect.

- Click the Lights button to enter the lighting menu.
- Set all three lights to true white by sliding the R, G, and B, sliders all the way to the right.
- Set all three lights to full intensity by sliding the Intensity sliders all the way to the right.

- Click the Room button. This is where you will create the black background.
- Choose “None” from the drop down menu beneath the Room button.
- Move the R, G, and B sliders all the way to the left to create dark black background.

- Click the Filters button. You are almost done!
- Click on the drop down menu beneath the Filters button.
- Click the X in the Ambient Inclusion check box to de-select it.

- Snap cool cutout photos to your heats content.

It looks like a lot of steps but it is very easy once you get the hang of it. Once you have the cutout image, it would be pretty easy to reverse the colors in photo editing software to create a silhouette. A smart guy like you could probably figure out all sorts of cool things to do with this type of image.
