Arson Machine A-Hole Micro Muzzle Device

Arson Machine’s new muzzle brake doesn’t mind if you call it A-Hole.

The new A-Hole Micro Muzzle Device is a smaller and lighter, single chamber version of their original A-Hole Muzzle Brake. These brakes have holes that are actually shaped like the letter A, as in Arson… Hence the name.

The A-Hole line of brakes are somewhat unique in that they are machined from 6061-T6 aluminum with a hard anodized coating. This makes them very light in weight (and affordable). While they will not last as long as a steel muzzle device, they have been shown to hold up for 4000+ rounds so it is not as if they are a throw away item.

As with any single chamber brake, the A-Hole Micro Muzzle Device is loud. These are unapologetic brakes that are designed to give a competitive shooter an edge by virtue of their light weight and muzzle control.

Scalarworks LDM 30mm Aimpoint Hack

If you have one of the Aimpoints (or other red dot sights) that require a 30mm ring mount – like the excellent Aimpoint PRO – you are probably bummed that there is no Scalarworks LDM mount for you. Well, I have good news…

The LDM/CompM4 can be used in conjunction with the ring from the Aimpoint QRP2 mount to create a lightweight mount for your 30mm Aimpoint. This combination is only 0.0236″ than the normal height that Scalarworks builds into their mounts which is basically imperceptible (and still within the height ranges of other mounts).

If you have a complete QRP2 mount that came with your Aimpoint, or can find a cheap used one (which is easy considering how many people replace them), and an LDM/CompM4… You have everything you need (including the hardware) to mount a 30mm red dot sight.

Faxon Firearms Announces Expansion of MuzzLok® with Two New Muzzle Devices

Swapping muzzle devices on an AR-15 isn’t hard but it is one of thing things that leaves you wondering if there is a better (read: easier and faster) way. Faxon Firearms’ MuzzLok muzzle devices certainly look easier to install and time. Previously the line was limited to just a single device, the LOUD Mouth brake, but now they are expanding the line.

From Faxon Firearms:

(CINCINNATI, OH) – Faxon Firearms, incessant innovators in the firearms industry, is pleased to announce the release of two new MuzzLok® muzzle devices, the GUNNER 3-Port Muzzle Brake and FLAME Tri Prong Flash Hider. Available for order today, the new muzzle devices expand upon Faxon’s originally invented MuzzLok® system which has included the LOUDMOUTH single-port brakes. MuzzLok® muzzle devices do not require crush washers to mount and time a device.

The GUNNER and FLAME are duty-ready in any condition. Both muzzle devices are manufactured from gun-barrel quality steel and QPQ salt bath nitride finished to match our barrels, maximize durability, and increase corrosion resistance.

The GUNNER 3-Port Muzzle Brake was designed by Faxon’s competition shooting staff to blend usability, versatility, and recoil reduction. For all barrel lengths, the GUNNER reduces recoil by more than 50%. Changing objectives, the FLAME flash hider virtually eliminates secondary ignitions at the muzzle, making muzzle flash nearly nonexistent.

“We are thrilled to be expanding the MuzzLok® line of products with the GUNNER and FLAME devices. Both meet shooters’ objectives for versatility and recoil or flash reduction,” said Nathanial Schueth, Director of Sales & Product Development. “The GUNNER and FLAME for 5.56 are just the first of many more devices to come using MuzzLok® technology.”

The two muzzle devices are designed for employment on 5.56 NATO / .223 Remington weapon systems. Both feature concentric 1/2×28 TPI threads for matching up to any commonly threaded barrel. Retail for both is set at $59.99, including the MuzzLok® nut. The GUNNER and FLAME are available directly from Faxon and shipping soon to Faxon’s dealer network.

Ruger AR-556 Stripped Lower Receivers

In news that may only be interesting to me… Ruger is now offering stripped AR-15 lower receivers. Their AR-556 lowers have a $129 MSRP but, as with all things Ruger, the price at your local dealer should be significantly lower.

ar-lower

Those of you who have built several AR-15s might think that price is high but Ruger is a very well known name with Joe Everyman. They are always good at positioning themselves to move into markets like this based on value and name recognition. If the average gun store shopper has a stack of AR-15 receivers in front of him and the choices are unfamiliar boutique brands or a Ruger within a $20-30 of the price of the others, he will likely choose the Ruger.

If Ruger can get these on dealer shelves en mass, I think they will sell a ton of them in the scenario described above.

Signet Ring – Spyderco Delica Finger Ring from Wise Men Company

Wise Men Company’s new Signet Ring turns your Spyderco Delica into something entirely new – not quite a karambit but still a Delica. The Signet replaces the Delica’s back spacer with a machined aluminum ring that functions much like the ring on a karabit. It makes the knife easier to retrieve from the pocket and easier to hold in an edge down orientation.

Delicas with the Emerson Wave Opener will be very easy to deploy using the Signet. The ring would sit above the wearer’s pocket where the index finger can easily slip into it and the knife will “automatically” deploy on the draw stroke. This can go a long way toward helping solve the issue of ending up with a grip that is too low on the knife when using the Wave. Regular Delicas may be modified to “wave” open in a similar way by simply attaching a zip tie to the Spyder Hole.

You can pre-order the Signet Ring at Wise Men Company. Shipping begins in January.
