Every Day Carry Crossbow – Bastion

Oh, you EDC a fidget spinner? That’s cool, I guess. It’s not fully functional, toothpick launching, mini crossbow cool but I guess it keeps you occupied.

Bastion is now offering the MINI CROSSBOW – a fully functional, mini crossbow that shoots toothpicks (which are flammable by the way, I’m just saying). The tiny steel crossbow has a wire string that can be drawn back with the your thumbs, dropped into a slot, and then released with a pull of the trigger. It even comes with a tiny display stand so your office friends know they better start bringing eye protection to work.

And just so no one has to say it in the comments… “You’ll put your eye out!”

FCD Sling Keep

The new Forward Controls Design Sling Keep is an adjustable elastic strap (shock cord) for securing your rifle’s sling so that it won’t snag. It’s inexpensive, adjustable for a wide variety of rifle stocks, and it won’t crumble over time like a rubber band.

You can read a recent example of why it is important to secure your slings here: When it Comes to Staged Firearms: Organized and Uncluttered is Faster…

TOPS Knives Missile Strike

The new Missile Strike from TOPS Knives is now available. This combat knife was initially shown at SHOT Show earlier this year and has been teased a few times since.

From TOPS Knives:

Kelly McCulley spent seven and a half years in the US Army. During his time in the service, he searched for the right knife to meet his needs as a combat tool that could do the duty of a utility knife, too. In all his time in the service, he never quite found the one that would fit what he wanted in a combat knife. Sound familiar? It’s one of the same reasons that TOPS Knives was founded and one of the reasons that TOPS produces such a variety of models. Around 2010, Kelly started designing knives that his fellow servicemen and women could rely on as they were deployed. He has been making those knives since and has some smart designs under his belt.

The Missile Strike is a great combination of combat and utility. Its narrow blade with long swedge allows for great penetrating stabs (the swedge can be sharpened upon request). The 1/4” thickness provides enough weight to add some power in stabbing, slashing, and when smashing using the pointed pommel. There is a very generous finger guard to ensure that your hand will not slip onto the blade.

Given that the knife will likely be used as a utility tool more often than not, there are features that were included to facilitate that use. The comfortable Micarta handle scales will stand up to use and provide excellent grip. There is a choil so you can choke up for finer tasks, and it’s made from 1095 steel, which holds a great edge, and is easy to re-sharpen in the field (a must for those who don’t always have a proper sharpening system handy). It comes with a tan Kydex sheath that has great retention, but still allows for a solid grip from the moment it’s drawn.

New from B.E. Meyers – BOARS-M2

B.E. Meyers & Co., Inc. is pleased to announce the release of a revolutionary new optics and accessory rail system called the BOARS-M2 (B.E. Meyers Optics & Accessories Rail System) for the M2, M2A1, M3 series .50 caliber heavy machine gun platforms.

The BOARS – M2 mount is a low-profile mounting solution that offers a quick-disconnect with true return-to-zero reattach. The BOARS-M2 represents a solution to the shortcomings of current M2 platform heavy machine gun optics and accessories mounting systems. By incorporating a modular design, and compact dimensions that respond to the needs of the end user, the BOARS-M2 provides vastly increased capabilities to the current M2 platform. Key features for the BOARS-M2 include: a quick detach optics/laser rail, snag free design, non-marring installation, low height-over-bore, and oversized pass through aperture for use with iron sights.

The BOARS-M2 is comprised of two parts: the lower base and a quick-detach optics/accessory rail. This allows for quick and effective changes between day and night optics without any loss of zero. In addition, cleaning and maintenance of the M2 Weapon platform with an optics mount is simplified with the BOARS-M2. Legacy systems require the complete removal of the optic and mount (resulting in a complete loss of zero), whereas the BOARS-M2 only requires the quick-detach optics/accessory rail to be removed, thus preserving optic zero once all components have been re-installed.

With an overall height measuring in at a diminutive 2.1 inches over the top of the receiver, the BOARS-M2 is almost half as tall as current Optic/accessory mounting solutions. The existing modified TVS-5 style mount designed in the 1970’s measures in at 4.0 inches over the height of the receiver. This drastic reduction in height translates into a lower end-user defilade and increased operator survivability during use. Despite such a low profile, the BOARS-M2 still incorporates an effective pass-through aperture for use with the iron sights if necessary.
