The Ontario RAT Model 1 Folding Knife is one of the absolute best deals on the market when it comes to folding knives. These knives offer extremely versatile design, quality construction, and a surprisingly low price. Now Ontario is offering a smaller version called the Model 2.
The Model 2 has an AUS8 steel blade like its bigger brother, the Model 1. However, the Model 2’s blade is only 3″ long which makes it legal to carry in more places. AUS8 may not be sexy these days but, unlike many stainless steels, it is easy to sharpen at home or in the field and was purposely chosen because of that by the Model 1’s designer, Randall Adventure Training (the group that would later become ESEE).
The Model 2 features a large easy to use double thumb stud. It has textured FRN scales that are pre-drilled for a 4 position pocket clip. The Model 2 will be have a liner locking mechanism and hardened steel liners like the Model 1.

Colorado House Bill 1224 has passed the Colorado State Senate. Those of you who have been following HB-1224 know that it is a bill that restricts the magazine capacity of Colorado residents to 15 rounds and it has been getting a lot of press because of Magpul’s residency in Colorado and moral stand to leave the state if the bill passes.
The bill will now head back to the house since there was a modification surrounding shotgun capacity in the senate. It will almost certainly pass there a second time before being sent to Governor John Hickenlooper for his signature – the last step before HB-1224 becomes law in Colorado. The governor has already stated that he will sign the bill if it makes it to his desk.

It should come as no surprise that, with the poor availability and high price of ammo, companies are coming up with products that attempt to mitigate the problem. One such product is the LT-TT Trigger Time Pistol from LaserLyte.
The LT-TT is approximately the size and weight of the Glock 19/23 and has a 5.5# trigger pull. It accepts the LT-PRO laser module from LaserLyte in order to provide the visual feedback in the form of a laser dot for training purposes. This can provide enhanced dry fire training without the need for ammo, though it should not be seen as a replacement for live fire training.
