MAG Tactical Systems Lightweight AR-15 Lower Receiver (In Stock)

The MAG Tactical Systems MG-G4 AR-15 Lower Receivers manage to be more than 3 ounces lighter than a standard lower receiver while still boasting all alloy construction.

Mag tactical systems ReceiverThese receivers utilize a different metal alloy than a typical lower receiver (MAG Tactical Systems calls it MAG Alloy) and some smart machining to reduce the overall weight of the receiver by 35%. The MG-G4 lower is mostly similar in dimension to a standard lower but the hammer and trigger pin holes are reinforced requiring longer pins which are provided. The longer trigger and hammer pins are the only non-standard parts that are required. The MG-G4 also features an over-sized integral trigger guard.

Many people, myself included, will be skeptical about a lower receiver that is manufactured from a new alloy but I am always glad to see manufacturers trying something new to advance the state of the art. Only time and round count can truly tell how these lowers will hold up.

They are available in black and FDE and, believe it or not, the MAG Tactical Systems MG-G4 lowers are in stock now at Brownells.com!

Help SerePick Fill Their Mondo Patch Panel

At JTT, we love us some OC Tactical Patch Panels and we love us some SerePick lock bypass tools. So, naturally, we got a kick out of this.

Our friends at SerePick posted a picture of their new Mondo Patch Panel from OC Tactical but it is looking pretty bare right now. If you send SerePick one of your Unit/Department patches to fill their patch panel, they will send your one of the embroidered patches and one of their slick new PVC glow in the dark Field Eyes. Check out the SerePick Facebook Page for details.

Sharps Bros. Hellbreaker AR-15 Receiver

I suspect that one look at the Sharps Bros. Hellbreaker AR-15 Lower Receiver will result in people either wondering why in the world there is nose art on an AR-15 receiver or wondering why in the world their AR-15 receiver doesn’t have nose art! It certainly isn’t for everyone (I’m not even sure it’s for me) but it is definitely unique.

Sharp Bros Hellbreaker

Apart from the nose art inspired molded shark feature, the Hellbreaker has everything you like to see in a lower. It is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum and hard anodized. The magazine well is nicely beveled to speed reloads and the over sized integral trigger guard is contoured to match the unique shape of the magazine well. It is “MULTI” caliber marked and has pictogram selector markings. It can accept all mil-spec parts.

A friend of the blog called me about the Hellbreaker a few days ago and I was really glad to hear that they were going to be available soon. In spite of the fact that in August, 2012 Sharps Bros. was attempting to raise the funds necessary to bring the Hellbreaker to market via a crowd funding website but the website shut down the campaign because it was firearm related. I was following their progress then and even if I wasn’t sure how I felt about the appearance of the Hellbreaker, I can’t help but root for someone when something like that happens.

Blade-Tech RIPTIDE

Blade-Techriptide

I do not have the training necessary to get much out of a karambit but I have seen various demonstrations that are quite impressive. It really is an effective tool in trained hands. Blade-Tech is offering one of the newer karambits on the market – the RIPTIDE. This thing has some very slick features.

I like knives with multiple, redundant opening methods. The RIPTIDE has 3 – an Emerson Opener (“Wave”), a Blade-Tech signature V-Hole opener, and a flipper. It also has an 5/32″ thick, 2 1/4″ long AUS8 steel blade with an interesting compound grind, G10 handle slabs, steel liners, and a liner locking mechanism.

Check out the RIPTIDE at Blade-Tech.com.
