White Sound Defense FOSSA-556 Giveaway

The White Sound Defense FOSSA-556 is one of the most effective flash suppressors that I have used. On a 16″ barrel, it generally produces zero visible flash and it has the additional benefit of providing some muzzle climb mitigation. It is a very cool muzzle device that I like to talk about whenever possible.

White Sound Defense is giving one away and entering is easy. Just head over to the contest page and complete the two steps required to enter.

New SIONICS Dissipator Images

I received some new images of the SIONICS Weapon Systems Dissipator barrel (below). This is technically a “mock” Dissipator with a low-profile gas block in the mid-length position which is actually the preferred setup in terms of reliability. In one of the images, you can see that SIONICS secures the handguard cap to the front sight base with a set screw – a step that is necessary due to the lack of gas tube in that position.

Given SIONICS’ track record of quality, I think this barrel probably just vaulted itself to the front of a very short line of available Dissipator options. Fans of this configuration are likely dancing in the streets as I type this.

Be sure to read the previous post about this barrel. Check out SIONICS Weapon Systems.

Voodoo Innovations DI Integral Bolt Group

Piston driven AR-15s have used bolt carrier with integral gas keys for years. Now, Voodoo Innovations, a sister company of Adams Arms, is bringing carriers with integral gas keys to direct impingement AR-15s. Loose gas keys may soon be a thing of the past.

Voodoo Innovations states that these bolt carrier groups are built to the MIL TDP (except, obviously, for the gas key specs) and then given their LifeCoat treatment. LifeCoat is a trade name that Voodoo Innovations uses for a variety of different coatings and treatments depending on the application. In this case, they are claiming that the coating will add durability, lubricity, corrosion resistance, and carbon resistance to the bolt carrier group.

The new Integral Bolt Groups are available in both a standard and low mass version.

ALG Defense AK Trigger Update

ALG Defense, the sister company of Geissele Automatics which is run by Amy Geissele, stirred up quite a bit of excitement with a preview of their upcoming AK trigger. Since that initial post on the trigger, I have found new details regarding the trigger.

There will be two different types of AK triggers available from ALG Defense. The first variation will be a standard trigger that will retail for $49. The second variation will have a shorter and lighter trigger pull that Bill Geissele states will be similar to the Geissele Automatics SD3G trigger. The SD3G is known for its rolling break and very fast reset which leads to split times around 1/10th of a second in the hands of skilled users. It will retail for around $75.

You can expect to see both triggers at SHOT Show in the Geissele Automatics/ALG Defense booth and, notably, at the SHOT Show range day media event. That means these are far along enough in development that there will be working triggers available to try in February. That is exciting news.
