Nice to see you rocking an RTF 17, mine was set up exactly like this (minus the Crimson Trace Laser). I recently picked up the new LAV G17 and love the color change with the frame! The Magwell is a GREAT addition.

If I needed to rip a mag out, would I be able to get a decent grip around the base. Speaking of which, I use Vickers replacement bases: would they work ok with this design?
Good questions. If you get a chance, check out the JTT review where both of those questions are answered. The short answer is yes and no.
Yes, you can rip out magazines – that is the main design thrust behind this magwell.
No, the Vickers bases will not work with this. They are basically the only base pad I have found that don’t work.
