Wiha 363 Series Torx Driver Set

I have posted about these before but I have found them so handy, that I think they are worth another mention. The Wiha 363 HM7 set of Torx drivers is one of my favorite tools. They are small enough to toss in your EDC bag (the whole set is about 2″x2.5″) and have the perfect assortment of sizes for most folding knives.

Recently, I had a pocket clip on my EDC knife that was coming loose to the point that I nearly lost one of the screws. I reached into my backpack for my Wiha Torx drivers and fixed the screw in short order.

This set has held up far better than other smaller Torx drivers that I have tried. The finish is still mostly intact and the they have not started to twist or round in the slightest even after quite a bit of use.

I don’t like to carry a ton of stuff that I won’t use. This little set of Wiha Torx drivers is really the only tool that I carry on a daily basis other than a multi-tool. They just continue to impress me with their quality and compact form factor.

Welcome Orion-Concepts

Please welcome Orion-Concepts as Jerking the Trigger’s latest partner. Orion-Concepts is a kydex bender that is making some really unique holsters.

Their MOD-1 holster traces its roots back to the classic leather pancake holster. However, unlike most leather pancake holsters, the MOD-1 can be molded to fit weaponlights and is available with camo hydro dipping. The pancake design is comfortable and allows the handgun to be carried very close to the body while still offering enough of the grip to allow a very fast draw. To further enhance how close the gun is carried, the MOD-1 is designed to be with the belt over the body of the holster.

Check out the Orion-Concepts website and be sure to like them on Facebook to keep up on their special deals. Stay tuned for a review of the MOD-1 holster.

ESEE Candiru

ESEE is showing the new Candiru in their booth at SHOT. This little knife is smaller than their well known Izula. I suppose that Candiru is a perfect name for a small knife since the Candiru is a small fish that is known for lodging itself in their unfortunate victim’s urethra.

The pictures from Katie Becket of ESEE seem to indicate that it is roughly the same thickness as the ESEE3 which would make it somewhere around 1/8″ thick. It is being shown in all the same color combinations as the larger ESEE knives which is different than the Izula which is only has tan canvas micarta scales available.

I will share more details when they become available.

The Candiru is shown here with the Izula (left).

Surefire 2012 New Products

Surefire has big plans for 2012. I have been watching them for a long time and I am not sure that I have ever seen them be this ambitious in terms of the sheer number of new model releases. In addition to the new releases, they are upgrading the emitters in several current models. You can watch the video for more details.

Equinox Monarch Ultralite Travel Bag

Kevin at Advanced Outfitters first told me about these Monarch Ultralite Travel Bags from Equinox. These versatile bags are perfect for a number of different uses.

The Monarch Ultralite Travel Bag has 5 internal pouches of varying size and there is still enough room to store items loose inside the clamshell opening bag. The pockets are made from mesh so that you can see what they contain at a glance. The body of the pouch is made from ultralight 1.1oz silicone impregnated ripstop nylon to keep the weight to a minimum and provide some water resistance.

These make great first aid kit bags or gear organizers. I like to organize my smaller gear in this type of bag so that I can easily move it from one bag to another. The Monarch Ultralite Travel Bags are perfect for this “bag in bag” organization style because they don’t add much weight unlike other organizers made from heavier materials. They also come in several colors so that you can easily color code your gear.

The Equinox Monarch Ultralite Travel Bag is made right here in the USA. Check them out on the Equinox website.
