Shellback Tactical Banshee QD Receives LAPD Approval

Banshee QD LAPD

Like the Banshee Plate Carrier before it, the new Banshee QD Plate Carrier has received LAPD approval for individual officer purchase. The QD makes a lot of sense for the type of user who will not be wearing it all the time, like a patrol officer, because of how easy to don and doff it is.

Shellback Tactical also produced this handy graphic that shows the entire line of products that they make for the Banshee PC. It is quickly becoming one of the best supported PCs on the market.

NextLevel Training Introduces the Pink Performer SIRT

Pink SIRT

NextLevel Training just introduced a pink version of their Performer Pro at a special introductory price through May. The pink color scheme is obviously geared toward female shooters but at the introductory price, it is the least expensive way to get the dual color laser version of the SIRT dry fire training pistol so it wouldn’t surprise me to see a lot of guys purchasing these “for their wife.”

Malkoff E2/Scout 2-3 CR123 Head

Shooters have been using Gene Malkoff’s bomb proof LED M60 and M61 LED modules for years on their Surefire Scout lights. These modules required the use of a adapters or special heads like the Valiant Concepts VME. Now Malkoff Devices has just introduced a brand new, dedicated E series/Scout compatible head.

Malkoff E Series Scout Head

The Malkoff E2/Scout 2-3 CR123 Head is is constructed of 6061 T6 aluminum and Type III Hard Black Anodized. It uses a custom reflector from the flashlight guru Don McLeish (AKA McGizmo) that Gene says will give a very balanced beam. This head utilizes a Cree XP-G2 and will push 235 lumens (that is actual measured out the front lumens and in my experience Malkoff Devices under rates their outputs) for 2 hours before it drops out of regulation and starts to dim. Even after that 2 hours, you should get quite a bit of useful light – it won’t leave you stranded with no light.

If you have a Surefire Scout Light or E-Series light laying around that needs updating, this looks like a great option. Nobody builds LED modules as stout as Gene. If this is anything like his M60 and M61 modules, it is going to be awesome.

Echo Nine Three V4/QD – Perfect AK Underfolder Sling Mounting Solution

If you own an AK with an underfolding stock, get a box of tissues because tears of joy are about to flow down your face and I don’t think I am overstating this (maybe a little). Underfolder stocked AKs are notoriously hard to sling. Well, that is about to change when the Echo Nine Three V4/QD Sling plates are released.

E93 V4QD

The picture shown above is a prototype mounted on an AK with an underfolder. We have talked about the V4/QD before but only in the context of use on AK pistols. Now that I have seen this, I think these are going to jump the head of a very short line of sling mounting options for underfolders. It positions the sling at the rear of the receiver where it can be used for single and two point sling applications and is tucked nicely out of the way. It uses standard push button QD swivels and is fully ambidextrous.

Installation is just as simple as the other Echo Nine Three Sling Plates. Just remove your grip, drop on the Sling Plate, and re-install the grip.

That sound that you hear is the joyful exclamations of AK underfolder shooters everywhere. These should be available in the next few weeks. Check out Echo93.com.

Zombie Tinder

The zombie craze is starting to fade in the gun world (thank goodness) but I did come across one zombie themed item recently that got my attention. Zombie Tinder is an easy to use emergency fire starting aid.

Zombie Tinder

Zombie Tinder makes 2 different sized tinder balls – Wet Weather Tinder and Dry Weather Tinder. They are available in kits that contain different mixes of the 2 depending on where you plan on using them. If you are going to be in the rain forests of the Northwest, then you’ll need a longer burning tinder for starting fires with wet wood. If you are going to be trekking across a desert, then shorter burn times will suffice.

Each kit comes in a tin that can be used a number of different ways. It is reflective for emergency signaling, can be used to boil water, make char cloth, or just carry small items.

I watched Dry Weather Tinder burn for just under 15 minutes which was impressive to say the least. The larger Wet Weather Tinders can be burn longer than 20 minutes according to the manufacturer. Check out ZombieTinder.com.
