Griffin Armament Low Pro RIGID Rail – Now Available without the Kit

Griffin Armament’s Low Pro RIGID Rail was initially released as a kit that included one of their excellent Primo Gas Blocks, a full set of their Sheild Rail Panels, and a sling swivel. The kit is a great value if you are setting up a new upper but if you just want the rail by itself, I have good news. The Low Pro RIGID Rails are now available to be purchased on their own.

They come with everything you need to mount the rail including the lightweight barrel nut and a useful armorer’s tool. The Low-Pro RIGID Rails are available in 4 lengths: 8.6″, 10.5″, 13.5″, and 15″. You can learn more about the rails in the official press release. The Low Pro RIGID Rail is available at Griffin Armament.

Griffin Armament released all their official press today for the Low-Pro Rail Kit. You can see our previous post regarding this rail and read on for new details.

From Griffin Armament:

Griffin AR15 rail kits include rail panels, gas block assemblies, and all tools and hardware needed for a turnkey rail system.

The design objective for the Griffin Low-Pro RIGID™ rails were to provide a slim, ultralight M-LOK rail, with increased rigidity over current similar market options.

“We had been looking at the market for a while and noticed that there were two types of rails essentially.  Rails that were beefy and strong, and rails that were slim and unfortunately weaker.  We wanted to combine the desirable attributes of both category products into one optimal rail system.”, Austin stated, Primary owner and Lead engineer for Griffin. He went on, “The final design resulted in 70% more rigidity than current similar market slim rails.  This is important for those who need to use IR lasers as armed professionals or for hunting.  There are a lot of great options now in IR laser aimer products that have solid mounting and solid bodies and we wanted to make a slim rail that provided industry leading point of aim / point of impact for those aimers.”

Low-Pro RIGID™ rails feature a 7075 aluminum barrel nut which can be installed with the included Griffin Armorers Wrench.  The mounting is done with included shims and flat head cap screws for an ultra-flush and low profile mating to the receiver.  17-4 stainless QD flush cups are included which thread into the barrel nut through holes in the rail.

The kits include the Griffin Primo Gas Block™, a 416R stainless .750” ID gas block which can be set screwed in place and / or pinned.

Additionally, the rail kits include the Griffin RAIL SHIELD™ panels as standard equipment.  This 4 piece kit provides a 4.6” length surface for heat protection and griping.  The user can choose to use the flat bottom panel or angled grip panel for enhanced recoil control.

Public Service Announcement: Check Your Bore/Suppressor Alignment Before Shooting

Griffin Armament recently posted this picture of a 30SD that fell victim to an out of alignment AKM. It is not uncommon for AKs to have muzzle threads that are out of aliment with the bore but this can happen with almost any firearm. It is a best practice to check for alignment with any firearm/suppressor combination before shooting.

Remember: The threads must be concentric to the bore, not the outside of the barrel (though ideally, the threads, bore, and outside of the barrel are all concentric). If you are going to invest in a suppressor, it may also be wise to invest in a suppressor alignment rod.

The good news here is that the damage was confined to the baffle stack and Griffin Armament was able to repair this 30SD.

Griffin Armament Low-Pro RIGID Rails

Griffin Armament has filled out their product line well beyond just suppressors and muzzle devices to include a wide variety of AR accessories and components. Their Low-Pro RIGID Rails are one of their newest offerings.

This rail gets its RIGID moniker from internal ribs that, when coupled with the extruded aluminum construction, provide increased rigidity. It features a full length top rail with MLOK slots along the full length of the 3, 6, 9 o’clock sides. Sling swivel sockets are integrated into the rail on both sides near the upper receiver.

Everything about this rail makes the end user’s life easier in terms of the tools necessary for installation, how complete the rail is out of the box, and the value offered. The lightweight 7075 T6 aluminum barrel nut is designed to be installed with a common AR armorers tool that you probably already have – the CAR stock wrench. The rail also ships with a useful and full-featured armorer’s wrench. Speaking of what ships with the rail… It includes the rail, barrel nut, and hardware but it also includes a full set of Griffin Armament’s Rail SHIELD Panels, the previously mentioned armorer’s wrench, the Griffin Armament Primo Gas Block, and a QD sling swivel! If you are building from scratch, that will save you a ton of cash.

The Low-Pro RIGID Rails are available in 4 lengths: 8.6″, 10.5″, 13.5″, and 15″. They are available now from Griffin Armament.
