B.E. Meyers MAWL now in use with GIGN

B.E. Meyers & Co., Inc. is pleased to announce that the MAWL-DA has been selected by the French National Gendarmerie’s elite police tactical unit, the GIGN, as their official individual NIR/VIS weapon laser and illuminator. The GIGN is currently upgrading legacy systems, and has begun to integrate new technologies with the unit’s available weapons platforms.

After evaluating various laser aiming and illumination systems through rigorous testing, and in real-world scenarios, the MAWL-DA was proven to be the superior solution, and was selected for formal procurement and deployment within the unit. In addition to the MAWL-DA’s selection by the GIGN, other units in France, and other European SOF units have adopted it for use in their respective operations.

The GIGN is the elite Police Tactical Unit of the French National Gendarmerie. Its missions include counter-terrorism, hostage rescue, surveillance of national threats, protection of government officials, and targeting organized crime. It is renowned for its selection and implementation of innovative technology and tactics, using a comprehensive suite of both small arms solutions, and weapon enabling systems. The unit’s selection of the MAWL-DA as a tool for mission success is notable in light of the GIGN’s pedigree, and reputation as a premiere SOF unit. B.E. Meyers & Co. looks forward to the MAWL-DA’s service with the GIGN as NIR/VIS pointing and illumination system which will assist in the unit’s response to both domestic and international threats.

The MAWL-DA (Modular Advanced Weapon Laser – Direct Action) is a high-power infrared and visible green aiming and illumination laser for individual carbines. Offering improved ergonomics, interface, and performance, the MAWL-DA has been designed from the ground up around the needs of the modern night fighter.

Engineered to address the shortcomings of common laser devices in use with both military and law enforcement, the MAWL® incorporates cutting edge VCSEL technology which eliminates the current problem of inconsistent and granular, speckled illumination. This unparalleled beam quality is leveraged with multiple modes of divergence and power, based on the ideal settings for any operational environment: Close Range, Mid Range, or Long Range.

The company’s booth (20434) is located on the second floor of the show in the Law Enforcement section.

B.E. Meyers & Co.’s Modular Advanced Weapon Laser (MAWL) is a high power infrared and visible green Aiming and Illumination laser for individual carbines. It offers improved ergonomics, interface, and performance. Additionally, the MAWL-CLAD features a full suite of SWIR and NIR capabilities. The MAWL has been designed from the ground up around the needs of the modern night fighter and is currently in use and deployed on operations with both Special Forces groups, and security agencies in the U.S., Europe, and other nations.

The GLARE RECOIL, was selected by the Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) as the sole source winner for the U.S. Marine Corps’ Ocular Interruption Systems (OIS) program and designated the LA-22/U. It features the B.E. Meyers & Co. patented SmartRange™ technology that utilizes laser range finding and near-field detection to self-regulate power output. The result is a product that represents the pinnacle of Hail and Warning systems technology, featuring controlled EyeSafe™ irradiance while simultaneously achieving maximum permissible exposure on target. B.E. Meyers & Co. also offers a class 1M variant of the LA-22/U, the GLARE HELIOS.

In response to the need for a modular, compact optic mount for the M2 platform, B.E. Meyers & Co. developed a revolutionary low profile mounting solution, the BOARS-M2™. It offers a modular, quick-disconnect system with true return-to-zero reattach. The BOARS-M2’s low profile form factor increases operator survivability by lowering the end-user defilade.

The IZLID series of NIR and SWIR lasers are rugged, versatile, dependable, and designed for a wide range of applications and platforms. Primary applications include marking, pointing, targeting, and illumination. The IZLIDs can be used as handheld units or mounted to various weapons systems or aircraft.

BG (R) Jones recently retired as the Commandant and Chief of Infantry at the United States Army Infantry School in Fort Benning, GA, following 32 years of service to his country in the U.S. Army. Brigadier General Jones’ appointment will expand the B.E. Meyers & Co. Advisory Board already in place, and his expertise will be invaluable as B.E. Meyers & Co. continues to strengthen its product portfolio and global presence.

“I am excited to join the B.E. Meyers Team – a true leader in providing advanced laser technology to our warfighters and law enforcement professionals,” said Brigadier General Jones, from his home in Columbus, Georgia. “B.E. Meyers’ commitment to quality and innovation is respected worldwide, and I’m excited to serve as a member of Board of Advisors.”

This appointment is also a reconnection of sorts, as in 2003 then-LTC Jones was the Battalion Commander of 1st Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment in Baghdad and Iskandariyah, Iraq, where Matthew Meyers, now President and CEO of B.E. Meyers & Co. Inc., served in his command as a Platoon Leader. “As a new Platoon Leader in OIF1, BG (R) Jones provided a tremendous level of leadership and advice, and we have maintained contact since that time” said Matt Meyers. “I am extremely honored and humbled that BG (R) Jones has agreed to continue a working relationship in an official capacity as part of the B.E. Meyers Team.”

Brigadier General (R) Peter L. Jones was commissioned as an Infantry Officer in the U.S. Army upon graduation from the United States Military Academy in 1985. Throughout his 32-year career, BG Jones has served in numerous staff and leadership positions, both in the continental United States and overseas, and led Soldiers from Company through Brigade. In his last assignment, he was responsible of building and sustaining the Infantry force as the 56th Chief of Infantry.

BG (R) Jones has deployed six times. As a member of the 1st Infantry Division, he deployed twice to Kosovo in support of NATO peace keeping operations. He also has four combat deployments serving in Iraq as commander of a 900-man Infantry Battalion operating in Baghdad and as a commander of a 5,500-man Heavy Brigade Combat Team operating in the five provinces south of Baghdad. Additionally, he has served as a strategic planner at the 4-star multinational headquarters in Iraq and Afghanistan.

BG (R) Pete Jones has also served in numerous staff positions at all levels from Battalion to Headquarters, Department of the Army. Most notably, he served for over two years as the Executive Officer to the Secretary of the Army as the Army shifted operational focus from Iraq to Afghanistan while managing the budget challenges posed by sequestration.

In his last assignment, BG (R) Jones served for two years as the Infantry School Commandant and 56th Chief of Infantry. During his tenure, he oversaw the integration and training of female Soldiers and Officers into the Infantry force. Additionally, he oversaw the study of Russian use of disruptive technologies and hybrid operations in the Ukraine and Syria as the Director, Russian New Generation Warfare.

In addition to a Bachelor of Science Degree from West Point, BG Jones holds advanced degrees from Georgetown University, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, and National Defense University. He is also the recipient of Bronze Star Medal for Valor, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Parachutist Badge and the Ranger Tab.
