Coming Soon from Armageddon Gear – Tactical Aprons

There are two places a man should wear an apron – in front of a grill or in a machine shop. When you need one, you need one.

Armageddon Gear will be releasing a new apron in the very near future. It will be made to the same level of quality that you expect from the patriotic ladies that sew all of Armageddon Gear’s goods and will be available in a number of colors and camo patterns. The rifle whisperers at GA Precision already have their hands on them and are showing them off in the image below.

Review: Armageddon Gear Precision Rifle Sling

I have been using an Armageddon Gear Precision Rifle Sling for over a year now and I have really come to appreciate it’s simple approach to helping the shooter build a steadier shooting position. I have used it mostly on two precision AR-15 builds but it has also done some time on a .30-06 Ruger American Rifle that I am setting up for hunting.

The Precision Rifle Sling has three features that make it stand out for me. The first is the always-open arm cuff. The cuff can be adjusted to fit your arm and then it stays that size more or less. To use it, you simple slip your body out of the sling and drive your support arm into the loop. Then you can pull the loop higher onto your arm as necessary. Once your arm is in the sling loop you can do a forearm wrap or quick adjust the sling tension to tighten it into a rock steady position which brings me to the next thing I like about the sling…

The tension adjustments can be made while you are in the sling. There is a short tail at the front of the sling that can be pulled to tighten the shooting position while you are already slung up. This allows you to fine tune the position quickly which is a big plus considering how much your support arm positioning may change based on the shooting position.

SPR Build

Finally, the bungee section of the sling has really surprised me. I have never had a shooting sling with a bungee feature but the Precision Rifle Sling features a stretch segment built into the “back” half of the sling. This, coupled with the wide webbing, makes it more comfortable to carry heavier rifles like my SPR. It also serves to suck the shooter into the rifle when shooting off of a barricade or even just on the rifle bar of a tree stand.

The Precision Rifle Sling is well made and the materials are top notch. It is available in a number of colors (mine is ATACS-AU) and with three different attachment options (plain ends, QD swivels, and AI Hooks).

I like this sling so much that I find myself moving it between rifles constantly. Check it out at Armageddon Gear.

Armageddon Gear Kit Bags Plus

Don’t disrespect the duffel!

Duffel bags never get their due. People fret and fawn over the latest backpack but no one gives a second thought to the trusty duffel bag that has been doing yeoman’s work carrying their crap for years. When you have a winter kit that you keep in your vehicle, you’re not going to use a backpack for that. Time to head to the gym? No one uses a backpack as a gym bag (okay, maybe some of you weirdos do but you’re wrong). Does your backpack work as a range bag? Nope. Would you keep duck decoys in a backpack? Please. There are just some things that duffel bags do better and when it comes to actually hauling gear, they are hard to beat.

The Kit Bags Plus from Armegeddon Gear are what duffel bags should be. Some makers complicate them with lots of pockets or organization features but that isn’t what a duffel bag needs. A good duffel needs one thing – a large, uncluttered main compartment with a wide opening so that the entire compartment can be easily accessed. Any other small compartments are bonus and should be kept out of the way. That is exactly how the Kit Bag Plus is designed.

These bags feature a large main compartment with top zip access. Each end has a small Velcro secured stash pocket and both sides feature full-length zippered stash pockets. Armageddon Gear attaches the webbing handles with large box stitches and reinforces the bottom with thin closed cell foam. The bags come with an adjustable shoulder strap and are available in three sizes:

  • Small: 17″l x 9″w x 8″h
  • Medium: 23″l x 11″w x 10″h
  • Large: 32″l x 13″w x 13″ h

Check out the Kit Bags Plus at Armageddon Gear. There are only about a million uses for them. I’m sure you can figure out a way to use one.

Armageddon Gear Fat Bags

Armageddon Gear’s new Fat Bags are now available!

When it comes to building a shooting position, using muscle to support the position is less optimal and using rigid skeletal structure is the way to go when possible. If you have a void in your position, your muscles have to work to hold that position which introduces shake and fatigue. Fat Bags can be used to tie your position together. They can be tucked under your butt so it is resting on your heal, tucked under your weapon side arm in a kneeling position to tie everything into your weapon side leg, or any number of other uses. They can also be used to stabilize the forend of your rifle on platforms and barricades.

The Fat Bags are constructed from Cordura Nylon and are filled with airweight beads to keep their weight to a minimum. The large bag weighs just 11 ounces and the medium weighs just 7.4 ounces.

The large bag features a tapered design that makes it work more easily in the space you are most likely to use it which is under your weapon side arm. Both bags can be deployed in a number of ways that ensure they will be ready to use when you need them. They feature long Velcro straps that allow you to tie the bag onto your arm or the forend of your rifle. They also feature bungee straps that let you tie the bags onto your belt where they can be quickly placed into position without removing them from the belt.

Fat Bags are available in a variety of colors. Check them out at Armageddon Gear.

Armageddon Gear Rear Bags

You need a quality rear bag in your kit. If you are on the range zeroing a new rifle, it’s time to break out the rear bag. If you are in the tree stand with your rifle rested on the rail, it’s time to break out the rear bag. There are just too many ways to use a rear bag for you to leave them at home.

Armageddon Gear makes 2 different rear bags: The Brick and the X-Wing Enhanced Rear Bag. Tom Fuller, head honcho of Armageddon Gear, has produced a video that goes over the finer points of their rear bags and a few ideas for how to use them. The Brick Bag in particular can do some things that other rear bags just can’t do thanks to its use of grip material.
