X Block Design Teases New Sling

You may know X Block Design for the Rex line of modular backpacks that can be configured for everything from rifle carry to office EDC. Now they are teasing a new addition to their lineup, a rifle sling. There are plenty of rifle slings on the market… but the price and features of this one may just be enough to make it very interesting.

X Block Design’s offering is a quick-adjust, 2 point sling that doesn’t require additional hardware to attach to most rifles thanks to its versatile paracord attachment points. It also promises to be very lightweight at less than 3 ounces for the 1″ version. The sling is expected to retail around $15 which is very affordable especially when you consider you won’t need any additional hardware for mounting.

Stay tuned for details.

Baofeng Comms Wing from Beez Combat Systems

Beez Combat Systems is now offering their Comms Wing Pouch for the Baofend/Pofung radios. This pouch should fit a wide variety of chest rigs and plate carriers that are currently on the market from BCS and others.

The Beez Combat Systems Comms Wing Baofeng/Pofung Pouch was designed to fit a wide variety of Baofeng and Pofung style radios with the extended battery pack. The Comms Wing Baofeng/Pofung Pouch is 100 percent laser cut and includes laser cut button window and port access as well as a laser cut drain hole. A bungee retention can also be found at the top of the Comms Wing Baofeng/Pofung pouch to help facilitate rigidity and ease of access while in a training or real world scenario.

The Comms Wing Baofeng/Pofung Pouch by Beez Combat Systems supports radio models such as: UV-5X3, UV-5R, BF-F8HP, GT-3TP, GT-3WP, UV9RPlus, 1701, BF-A58S and the BF-158 model. The various style radio models all are compatible allowing ease of access for the button window and the port access if utilizing microphones or ear pieces.

The Beez Combat Systems Comms Wing Baofeng/Pofung Pouch was designed to be ambidextrous allowing the operator to switch between left and right side placement. The ambidextrous design of the Comms Wing Baofeng/Pofung Pouch can be utilized to work with both micro chest rigs, such as the APTUM™ MICRO X, or plate carriers, such as the APTUM™ plate carrier series. A simple Velcro attachment allows the radio to face inwards towards the operator’s torso saving precious real estate space by allowing the radio to comfortably secure to the inside of the loadout.

The EDC Tool Roll: Topeak Ratchet Rocket Lite DX

The EDC Tool Roll is a feature on Jerking the Trigger in which we profile various everyday carry worthy tools. The tools shown aren’t multi-tools but rather real tools, that by virtue of their compact size, light weight, usefulness, or unique functionality, can find a place in any range kit, emergency kit, or everyday carry bag.

Feel free to comment on the tools that you carry so we can all learn! The discussion on these posts has been very valuable so far.

If you are looking for some of the lightest, most compact, and functional handtools for your version of The EDC Tool Roll, you might have to leave the hardware store and head over to the bike shop. That is where you are most likely to find this slick ratchet/driver combination tool we are focusing on today… the Topeak Ratchet Rocket Lite DX.

The ratchet/driver included with this kit has a unique format with a reversible ratcheting end complete with a finger wheel and a fixed inline end. The configuration is excellent allowing for the speed of a ratcheting driver along with the easier starts and longer reach of a fixed, inline driver. Both ends hold standard hex shank bits with excellent retention. This format is VERY useful in a small driver.

I was initially interested in the Topeak Ratchet Rocket Lite DX for just the ratchet/driver. I thought the other items might be too bike-specific to be useful to me but I have been pleasantly surprised with how much I like the included pouch. The pouch holds the contents securely and is very compact. You can easily exchange the bike-specific bits for whatever you need (though the labeled sizes won’t match). Additionally, if you remove the tire levers, you can fit a Knipex Cobra Plier 87 00 100 in the kit turning it into a smaller than wallet size EDC Tool Roll on it’s own.

This kit doesn’t come with a hex shank to socket adapter. It is worth adding one on your own because makes a fine socket wrench and nut driver. I purchase them from iFixit.

Where to Buy:

You stand a good chance of finding this tool locally in your bike shop. If you can’t support your local spot, Amazon has it: Topeak Rocket Ratchet Lite DX on Amazon
