Black Triangle Group recently created the Midnight Creeper MK4 by adding a pommel flare to an already useful design. Now, this same pommel flare has been brought to the more compact and concealable MK2M2 and MK2M3 designs with the addition of the new MK5 Mod 2 and MK5 Mod 3.
The pommel makes the MK5 Mod 2 and MK5 Mod 3 easier to index and draw versus their MK2M2 and MK2M3 predecessors. The new tools are slightly wider at the top but no longer than their predecessors.

The Apex™ Slick Sling is a variation of the original Apex™ sling, forgoing the pad portion for a full mil-spec tubular webbing construction. The minimalistic design allows for a lightweight, easy to maneuver sling making it practical for any environment. The webbing features Schoeller Nanosphere coating, which resists water absorption and reduces drying time. The Apex™ Slick Sling, like the Apex™ Sling, utilizes HSGI’s patent-pending Double-Tap Slider™ allowing the shooter to have more control over his/her weapon with two levels of friction.

Gear Spool has released their newest tool under a new brand – Quick Draw Self Defense. The Quick Draw Self Defense Tool (QDSD) is a very compact, simple “impact” tool that can be clipped into a pocket.
The QDSD is made from stainless steel square stock. The square stock is formed into a large finger ring and then onto itself in order to create a clip. This construction method makes the QDSD very simple with no moving parts. The point is pointy but not sharp according to the product page.
The user clips the QDSD in the location of their choosing. If needed, it can be accessed quickly via the finger ring. There are many tools on the market that are similar in principle (finger ring + point) but the simplicity and affordability of the QDSD set it apart.
Given Gear Spool’s experience with the Mighty Mini Bar – an ultra-compact titanium pry bar – I wonder if there will ever be a titanium version of the QDSD.
