Triple Magazine Shingles from UW Gear

triple1-u5144Triple Magazine Shingles are now available from UW Gear. They have made the singles and doubles for a while now and I have been pestering them to make triples the entire time. They finally relented – probably just so they didn’t have to listen to me anymore.

These Triple Magazine Shingles use the same innovative flap retention system for which UW Gear is now known. The 3 magazine format is perfect for the front of a plate carrier (most of which have 6×3 fields of PALS webbing on the lower front). They are available for the AR-15/M4/M-16, AK-47, and AK-74 and they come in a ton of different color options.

Hill People Gear Londolozi Pack – Coming Soon

I have always looked forward to seeing what Hill People Gear (HPG) will come up with next ever since I got my old Kit Bag. The Londolozi Pack is one of their latest creations and it will be available soon.

The Londolozi Pack occupies the space between the compact Tarahumara Pack and the larger Ute Pack. This top loader is sized (19″x11″x6.5″ and 2000 ci) to handle day trips or even multi-day warm weather trips if you pack lightly. It comes with the new version of the HPG Shoulder Harness that is being phased into all the HPG packs and is also compatible with the Prairie Belt if you need to transfer a heavier load to your hips. The plastic frame sheet and single aluminum stay are removable and the back panel is padded. The compression system works to steady your payload and also allows the user to dock a Palspocket, Tarapocket, or Tarahumara pack. There are additional organization features like several compression straps that can be used for lashing gear, dual wand pockets, an internal slot pocket, internal hang tabs, and a para-cord tool loop.

Up Armor Your Y.U.C.K.

My family and I love the Y.U.C.K. from Fight and Flight Tactical. Our daughters use their backpacks all the time whether they are going across town or just on an “adventure” across the living room.

Fight and Flight Tactical recently posted some interesting information about how the Y.U.C.K. can accept soft armor plate backers:

“Around Christmas last year, the family and I were driving to see some family in Texas, and Sandy Hook came up in conversation. The wife and I engaged in an in-depth discussion on what kids could actually do to protect themselves in the case of a mass shooting. Many schools subscribe to the “duck and cover” line of thinking (however flawed it may be), and it occurred to me that it just so happened that the Y.U.C.K. and Y.U.C.K. II are perfectly sized and shaped to hold an armor plate backer in their hydration bladder pockets. So, if your kids’ schools don’t allow a common sense approach to protecting your kids (like armed security, or teachers with concealed carry permits), using a Y.U.C.K. or Y.U.C.K. II with a level IIIA plate backer will give your precious little ones an extra edge towards surviving, should another mass shooting occur in YOUR hometown.”

For a Y.U.C.K., use an 8″x10″ shooter cut plate backer,
For a Y.U.C.K. II, use an 10″x13″ or an 11″x14″ shooter cut plate backer.

I checked it out and they do fit quite well. Just when I thought the Y.U.C.K. couldn’t get any cooler.

Blind Horse Knives April Special – The BHK-T2

Every month, Blind Horse Knives (BHK) creates a new knife to offer for a limited time. If it sells well, it may find a place in their regular line up. These monthly special knives are often a really cool opportunity for BHK to try new things so the designs are often pretty unique. This month’s special is the BHK-T2 and it is a real looker.

The BHK-T2 draws obvious inspiration from traditional tanto style blades (a far cry from the angular American style tanto blade shapes that are prevalent now). The overall length is 9 3/8″ with a 4 1/2″ long blade. It is ground from 1/8″ thick D2 steel and features Resiten scales (like micarta) with scallops for additional grip. The T2 comes with a versatile kydex sheath that allows to be carried in a number of ways.
