Manticore Arms MA-5100 Stock

Russian triangular side folding stocks are very popular among many AK shooters because they are more comfortable than something like a wire side folder or underfolder and, frankly, they look really nice on the right build. However, they are not only expensive to purchase but expensive to have installed since they require cutting the receiver in a way that exceeds the capabilities of many shooters. Enter the MA-5100 Stock from Manticore Arms…

The MA-5100 is designed to bolt directly to any standard 10-32 bolt pattern stock adapter or and hinge. Years ago, ACE LTD. was the only game in town for these adapters but now they are are available from a number of places so you have a lot of options. If you don’t already have a hinge or adapter installed, you can purchase one with your MA-5100. You can easily install this stock by yourself with some basic tools.

The MA-5100 is made from 6061 aluminum and weighs only 15 ounces. When paired with a hinged adapter, it has the same length of pull as an original Russian triangle side folding stock.

UCWRG Billet Lowers

Now this is a good looking AR-15 lower receiver. The new billet lowers from Umbrella Corporation Weapons Research Group look great and have a handful of really nice features including Battle Arms Development BAD-ASS-Short Throw compatibility, a nicely flared magazine well, the AXTS Weapons Systems mag release actuated bolt catch functionality, pictogram selector markings, and a gorgeous 3D machined logo. SHM Loudener

H6 Buffer Upgrade Kit from Damage Industries

Previously, if you wanted to use a collapsible carbine stock on your 20″ AR-15 with rifle length gas system you didn’t have many choices. You could do what I did for years and use an H3 buffer but in certain situations, this can be less than ideal or you could use the VLTOR A5 system. The H6 buffer was specifically developed to fill this role but they were relatively difficult to find until recently when Damage Industries introduced their new H6 Buffer Upgrade Kit.

The kit comes with everything you need to reliably operate your rifle upper with a carbine receiver extension – the 5 ounce H6 buffer, a 4 position receiver extension, a castle nut, an end plate, and a buffer spring. I firmly believe that 20″ barreled AR-15s with rifle length gas systems are still a very good choice for a general purpose rifle (maybe even the best choice) and they are even better with a collapsible stock.
