Armaspec XPDW 5 Position Collapsible Stock

Armaspec’s new XPDW 5 Position Collapsible Stock is one of the most affordable PDW style stocks on the market. It also mounts to a standard carbine receiver extension which means there is no need for a proprietary recoil system but also that it will not be quite as compact as other PDW style stocks on the market.

From Armaspec:

Armaspec, manufacturer of the Rhino R23 Magwell Funnel, AST90 assisted safety selector and TCB extended mag release, is pleased to announce the new Armaspec XPDW 5 Position Collapsible Stock.

The Armaspec XPDW 5 Position Collapsible Stock is a completely new take on the PDW stock. Unlike other PDW stocks that require modified BCGs, short buffer tubes with custom buffer springs and buffers, etc. the XPDW stock mounts directly to your standard AR-15 collapsible stock mil-spec buffer tube. This design allows the end user to easily install the XPDW stock with no modification to the AR with the exception of simply removing the standard AR-15 stock.

The Armaspec XPDW 5 Position Collapsible Stock also completely breaks the mold when it comes to the affordability by coming in at an unbeatable MSRP of just $179. XPDW units are currently in production and on display at SHOT Show 2016 booth number 3348. Stop by and check out our newest creation. We are accepting orders now.

Streamlight ProTac Rail Mount 1 and 2

Streamlight just introduced two new rail mounted lights that appear to be intended as competition for the Surefire Scout series of lights. The ProTac Rail Mount 1 and ProTac Rail Mount 2 are single cell and double cell (respectively), rail mountable version of Streamlight’s popular ProTac lights. Both lights feature integrated rail mounts, anodized aluminum construction, a tempered glass lens, and tape switch or push button tail cap compatibility. Both lights are also user programmable with a choice of three operating modes: high/strobe, high only, and low/high.

The ProTac Rail Mount 2 boasts 625 lumen output for 2 hours. The ProTac Rail Mount 1 can be run off of a AA battery or a CR123A and, because of the differences in voltage, it has a different output level depending on the battery type. It boasts 150 lumens for 1.5 hours with an alkaline AA (4.5 hours on a lithium AA battery) or 350 lumens for 1.75 hours with a CR123A.

Magpul just rolled out several new magazines that will be available in Spring of 2016.

The magazines include the PMAG 21 GL9 and PMAG 27 GL9 magazines – 21 and 27 round respectively capacity Glock 9mm magazines. Pistol caliber carbine users everywhere are giving each other high fives.

They also introduced the new PMAG 20 AK/AKM MOE magazines. As a fan of 20 round AK magazines, this is music to my ears and hopefully there will be a metal reinforced PMAG 20 AK/AKM Gen M3 version to follow.

Finally, they introduced the long rumored PMAG 30 AK74 MOE for 5.45 chambered AKs.

Browe Teams with RS Regulate to Change AK Optics

RS Regulate has changed the way I mount optics on my AKs. Their AK-300 series side mounts outpace just about everything on the market when it comes to mating a quality optic to an AK pattern rifle. However, even with their advanced mounts, difficulties persist in mounting magnified optics on AKs. The current solutions tend to have eye relief issues, excessive height over bore issues, or both… not to mention how clunky it can be to attach a large scope to rings which are attached to a mount, which is attached to your rifle.

That is where Browe comes in. They have worked with RS Regulate to create a very low mount version of their 4×32 BROWE Tactical Optic (BTO) specifically designed to work with the RS Regulate AK-302 Rear-Biased Mount and AKOG Upper Mount. Browe calls the optic the BTO-005G-RS and, in addition to the redesigned low mount, it will also feature a 7.62×39 specific BDC reticle that is green illuminated and powered by a CR123A battery.

The result of this collaboration is a magnified optic package that goes a long way toward mitigating the eye relief issues and excessive height over bore issues typically seen with magnified optics on the AK. It is is also far more trim than you would expect from an AK optic. The entire package including the mount weighs just 18.8 ounces which is incredible considering that many magnified optics can weigh 18 ounce or more before you add the weight of the mount. This optic package still allows field stripping when installed.

The time is right for a well thought out optic package like this. There are increasingly accurate AKs coming to market from the likes of DDI and others. It is about time there was a well thought out and modern magnified optic package that could take advantage of the increased accuracy.

You can learn more about this collaboration at Browe-Inc.com.
