ACE Rail Sling Mount with QD

I have been using the original ACE Rail Sling Mounts (SMR) for years. I have always appreciated the simplicity of the design which is a simple sling loop, milled from a single block of aluminum, and clamped to the rail with a single bolt. Now ACE is offering a new version of the Rail Sling Mount with a QD sling swivel socket integrated into the design. This simple change adds a considerable amount of versatility and redundancy that will be welcomed by anyone who has had a QD swivel fail at a bad time.

These are not currently available at the ACE website. The are available from J&T Distributing.

Armageddon Tactical and Stealth Engineering Group SURG Submission

Armageddon Tactical and Stealth Engineering Group have released some images of their their submission to the military’s Suppressed Upper Receiver Group or SURG program. The submission makes use of Stealth Engineering Group’s suppressor technology and Armageddon Tactical’s GMS-15 Charging Handle in a special color.

I’ve not put hands on any Stealth Engineering Group products but I have spent considerable time with a GMS-15 Charging Handle and found that it does go a long way toward preventing suppressor related blowback.

Best Look Yet at Griffin Armament’s Low-Pro Rail Kit

Griffin Armament released all their official press today for the Low-Pro Rail Kit. You can see our previous post regarding this rail and read on for new details.

From Griffin Armament:

Griffin AR15 rail kits include rail panels, gas block assemblies, and all tools and hardware needed for a turnkey rail system.

The design objective for the Griffin Low-Pro RIGID™ rails were to provide a slim, ultralight M-LOK rail, with increased rigidity over current similar market options.

“We had been looking at the market for a while and noticed that there were two types of rails essentially.  Rails that were beefy and strong, and rails that were slim and unfortunately weaker.  We wanted to combine the desirable attributes of both category products into one optimal rail system.”, Austin stated, Primary owner and Lead engineer for Griffin. He went on, “The final design resulted in 70% more rigidity than current similar market slim rails.  This is important for those who need to use IR lasers as armed professionals or for hunting.  There are a lot of great options now in IR laser aimer products that have solid mounting and solid bodies and we wanted to make a slim rail that provided industry leading point of aim / point of impact for those aimers.”

Low-Pro RIGID™ rails feature a 7075 aluminum barrel nut which can be installed with the included Griffin Armorers Wrench.  The mounting is done with included shims and flat head cap screws for an ultra-flush and low profile mating to the receiver.  17-4 stainless QD flush cups are included which thread into the barrel nut through holes in the rail.

The kits include the Griffin Primo Gas Block™, a 416R stainless .750” ID gas block which can be set screwed in place and / or pinned.

Additionally, the rail kits include the Griffin RAIL SHIELD™ panels as standard equipment.  This 4 piece kit provides a 4.6” length surface for heat protection and griping.  The user can choose to use the flat bottom panel or angled grip panel for enhanced recoil control.

Preview: VZ Grips AR-15 Grips

VZ Grips has given us a peek behind the curtains at an upcoming AR-15 grip. The two shown here feature the machined G10 material that we expect from VZ Grips. The image below shows two texture options, Aliens and Operator II, so there is a potential that you may be able to batch the texture and appearance of your AR-15 grip to the grip on your 1911 or other firearm.

GunfightersINC CAS/C5S IWB Holster

GunfightersINC has a new holster in their lineup – the CAS/C5S. The holster, designed especially for compact, single-stack pistols, was designed for appendix or strong side inside-the-waistband carry. Interestingly, GunfightersINC tells me that that the spare magazine position may not be ideal but works surprisingly well for strong side carry and it is their hope that a holster like this will encourage more people to actually carry a spare magazine.

FRNONT LIGHTBOX

From GunfightersINC:

The current market trends show an overwhelming push towards lightweight, highly concealable single stack pistols. These pistols are easy to carry and with the right holster, are barely noticeable under a wide array of cover garments. The major trade-off with a single stack 9mm is capacity. Even with a +1 or +2 baseplate, you are still sitting at half the round count of a double stack pistol such as a Glock 19. While it is certainly an option to carry magazines in pockets or in a separate pouch, we wanted to offer a system that would allow you to have a spare magazine at the ready in a streamlined low-profile system.

The CAS/C5S IWB Holster is available in two configurations: The CAS positions the firearm vertical for easy concealment and your magazine at 30° angle for the fastest and most natural possible in the 12 O’clock position.  The C5S is designed to sit on the strong side of the body, with a canted firearm (10-15°) and slightly canted magazine (10°) for fast draw and minimal printing in the 3-5 O’clock position. The rounds are set to face toward the firearm to enhance quick reloads. The holster is contoured to have a steep curve that pulls the firearm and magazine into the body to reduce printing and aid concealment.

We designed the CAS/C5S holster to be a simple, one-piece unit that you can easily take on and off with little trouble. The minimalist design prevents discomfort by limiting bulk and unnecessary material, yet still offers a full sweatshield to protect your firearm.  No fighting overly complex clip systems or bulky brackets. No threaded fasteners to work loose. No magazines floating around in pockets or an extra holster that you have to deal with. Our experience has shown us that if your holster is uncomfortable or needlessly complex, you won’t wear it.

The CAS/C5S is available for a wide variety of compact and subcompact firearms from most major firearms including 1911s, Glock, FNH, H&K, Sig, Smith and Wesson, Springfield, Ruger and Walther.
