Old Grouch’s Military Surplus Tactical Pack Cover with Rain Hood and Improved Military Poncho News

Old Grouch’s Military Surplus has introduced two new items to accompany their Improved Military Poncho (see previous post).

The first is a longer version of the Improved Military Poncho. The “Tall” version measures 94″ compared to the standard 82″ of the regular version. The poncho is a full 12″ longer and has an additional row of snaps but the spacing on center remains the same so that both the regular and tall version can be snapped together when used as shelter halves.

They have also worked with the manufacturer of their ponchos to create the Tactical pack Cover with Rain Hood. This is a water resistant cover that can be fitted to your pack via a drawstring and elastic strap. It also has a head and shoulder hood that can be pulled up and over the wearer. It covers in such a way that gear on the chest like chest rigs or items on your armor are still accessible. It is available in two sizes based on the size of your pack.

Tease: The Shellback Banshee 2 Plate Carrier is Coming Soon

Think all the way back to January 2015. Shellback Tactical was teasing and then showing the Banshee 2 Plate Carrier at SHOT Show 2015. Well, the Banshee 2 is finally right around the corner. Pre-ordering will be opened soon and we have a first look at the new carrier.

The new Banshee 2 boasts a ton of new features. Several features have been added or evolved since the original prototype was shown at SHOT 2015. This carrier features a new MOLLE compatible Hypalon shoulder strap treatment, new materials like spacer mesh backed plate pockets, camo/color matched webbing and Velcro, integrated admin storage, and a ton of built-in magazine storage in the kangaroo pocket and cummerbund.

Spiritus Systems Micro Fight Chest Rig

The Micro Fight Chest Rig from Spiritus Systems is currently in stock and shipping. This unique, compact chest rig looks deceptively simple but its small frame manages to pack in a lot of modular features.

The Micro Fight is kind of like a clever cross between a plate carrier kangaroo pocket and a chest rig. It accepts magazine inserts like a kangaroo pocket so that the magazine load can be tailored to the specific weapon being supported. The entire interior of the chest rig is lined with Velcro which the user a lot of flexibility.

The front of the Micro Fight has a large admin pocket. It is secured with a large flap and features sewn-in elastic organization loops that can hold magazines, flashlight, medical supplies, and similar items.

The chest rig is compatible with the industry standard SwiftClip system found on many plate carriers. This allows the user to dock the Micro Fight on a plate carrier. The back of the Micro Fight has a Velcro panel to aid in attaching it to a plate carrier. This Velcro panel can also be used to dock the optional S.A.C.K. to expand the Micro Fight’s capacity.
