Amtac Gear Teases New Knife – Northman X

NOTE: See below for the latest information and images.

Amtac Gear recently shared a tease for a new knife in the Amtac Blades line – the Northman X. This knife splits the difference between the Minuteman and the original Northman dimensionally. It appears to be an amalgamation of the larger Minuteman/Magnus grip with the Northman-like blade which should make for a knife that is equally at home in a pocket sheath or on the belt, especially for those who find the Northman handle to be on the small side.

You can read our review of the Northman to get a taste of why this is an exciting development. Like all Amtac Blades, I am sure this new knife will be supported with all the sheaths users need to squeeze every last ounce of versatility out of it.

UPDATE: The NorthmanX is now confirmed and available to pre-order. https://amtacblades.com/northmanx/

Sneak Peek: PC Striker from Pressure Cult

Pressure Cult has given us a sneak peek of their upcoming PC Striker. This is a ferro rod holder that is designed to bolt directly to the standard 1/4″ eyelets that are commonly found on kydex knife sheaths. It holds a ferro rod in line with the sheath and can be pivoted out from the sheath when the user needs it.

The promise of something like this is that, whenever you have your knife with you, you also have a fire starting method with you. This can streamline your EDC/outdoor kit and help ensure you have the right tools with you at the right time.

These will be available very soon – as early as next week. Each PC Striker comes with a ferro rod. You can see a video of how it pivots on the Pressure Cult’s Instagram.

PHLster Modular Holster Wedge Kit

PHLster just released what is probably the most complete holster wedge kit available. If you are unfamiliar with holster wedges, the concept is simple. Wedges are small padded parts that can be attached to a holster to provide counter pressure that draws the grips of the handgun into the wearer and enhances comfort by reducing hot spots.

Fine tuning holster fit to the body is the most time consuming and individual aspect of concealed carry. Huge gains in comfort and concealment can be accomplished by adding a wedge to the holster, but getting that wedge just right is often a big project, full of trial, error, frustration, and guesswork.

The Modular Holster Wedge Kit provides a variety of stackable shapes which you can use in any combination or configuration to quickly and easily get the comfort and concealment results you need, with no permanent modifications to the holster.

Each kit comes with two base pads, two spines, four half-circles, and four “bean” shapes, pre-cut hook tabs for each shape, and two pieces of adhesive loop. For a total of 12 wedge modules, this is enough to adjust two holsters, with enough modules and material left over to fine tune an extra magazine carrier or knife sheath.

Whether you need to make small or large adjustments to your gear, the Modular Holster Wedge Kit gives you complete control over even the smallest and most frustrating concealment details and challenges.

zeta6 Speed Strips

The old days of buying extra long speed strips to space out your revolver reload into doubles may be over thanks to zeta6. They offer a line of speed strips that offer innovative spacing and orientations so that you can load doubles or even triples from a convenient to carry speed strip format.

There are a number of options to choose from at zeta6 including the J-STRIP and SYM-STRIP which both offer built-in spacing to ensure smooth reloading of two chambers at once with the SYM-STRIP offering a symmetrical tab so that the strip can be held on either side. They also offer the J-PAK which is sort of like a speed loader/speed strip hybrid that carries flat but makes reloading three chambers at once possible.

I have not put my hands on these but, if they do what they should, they seem to offer a worthwhile evolution to the venerable old speed strip.
