Combat Optic Tool from Patriot Products AZ

The name Freddie Blish, LtCol USMC (Ret.) may be familiar to some of you from his time at Aimpoint. Freddie is the man behind the Combat Optic Tool from Patriot Products AZ.

The Combat Optic Tool is a handy piece of gear that has a multitude of functions that pertain to zeroing, installing, and maintaining a wide variety of optics like Aimpoints, ACOGs, and more. It features a rounded flat head driver that can be used to turn turrets or remove battery caps, a tool to adjust windage and elevation on Micro Aimpoints, a self adjusting box wrench that can turn the nuts found on LaRue Tactical, GDI, and ADM mounts, and a bottle opener for when you don’t feel like using your teeth.

Medical Tailgate for the Fight and Flight Tactical LLAMA

The Medical Tailgate has a host of features designed to support its mission. It can be removed from the pack to serve as a stand-alone medical pack. It features 2 IV pouches and a large medical organizer pocket on its front. It also has a large main compartment (720 cubic inches) for storing additional gear.

Admittedly, not everyone needs a dedicated medical pack, but that is the beauty of the LLAMA pack. It is a solid, stand-alone pack that can be adapted to do just about anything with the addition of the proper Tailgate.

Eclipse Flash Hider from Manticore Arms

I always take notice when Manticore Arms drops a new muzzle device. They always impress with solid performance at a great price which is why I have high hopes for the new Eclipse flash Hider.

Manticore Arms says that this device outperforms many of the leading devices on the market now in terms of flash suppression. In fact, they say it all but eliminates flash. It is machined from 8620 steel and black oxide coated. It is threaded for 1/2×28, weighs 3.6 ounces, and is 2 1/4″ long. It does not need to be timed.

Do you have a pen and paper? Good. Make a note to keep an eye on V7 Weapon Systems. You may not know them know but you probably know the founder, at least tangentially. Joel Allen, formerly of Noveske Rifleworks, is the man behind V7 Weapons Systems and that alone should inspire some confidence. V7 Weapon Systems is doing some things with AR-15 parts that I have never seen done before and that is pretty exciting.

If you aren’t paying attention, it is pretty easy to scoff at their $140 receiver extension (buffer tube) but, hopefully as an intelligent JTT reader, you read beyond the price to notice that it is machined from 4140 steel and black nitride finsihed! The finish makes the 4140 steel nearly impervious to rust and reduces friction.

Their CTBOLT appears to be just like any other AR-15 bolt at first glance but a quick perusal of the spec sheet uncovers something very interesting. It is made from Carpenter 158 steel like a proper bolt should be, but, unlike most bolts, it is cryogenically treated which can greatly increase its strength and hardness. V7 Weapon Systems claims you can expect up to 200% longer service life thanks to the treatment. They are so confident in the CTBOLT that they offer a lifetime warranty regardless of round count.

I am really looking forward to seeing what V7 Weapon Systems can cook up next!

Ares Armor Micro Cobra Belt

Ares Armor is one of those companies that always seems to be creating something just a bit different than anyone else. Their new Micro Cobra Belt is a prime example of that. While other companies are building belts that seem to get wider and wider, Ares Armor has stretched the limits of how narrow you can make a belt and still be MOLLE compatible.

The Micro Cobra Belt is slim enough to be threaded through the belt loops of your pants though it is really meant to be worn as an outer belt. It features an AustriAlpin Cobra Buckle closure and a unique 3/4 scale PALS webbing format that is fully compatible with MOLLE pouches but keeps the Micro Cobra Belt very slim.Color_Lineup__73627.1371771661.1280.1280

This form factor could potentially have a lot of merit and not just for weight savings. I suspect it might be more conducive to shooting positions that require more flexibility at the waist. If you have ever tried certain shooting positions like “rice paddy prone” with a wide belt digging into your ribs, you know what I mean.
