Ares Armor is one of those companies that always seems to be creating something just a bit different than anyone else. Their new Micro Cobra Belt is a prime example of that. While other companies are building belts that seem to get wider and wider, Ares Armor has stretched the limits of how narrow you can make a belt and still be MOLLE compatible.
The Micro Cobra Belt is slim enough to be threaded through the belt loops of your pants though it is really meant to be worn as an outer belt. It features an AustriAlpin Cobra Buckle closure and a unique 3/4 scale PALS webbing format that is fully compatible with MOLLE pouches but keeps the Micro Cobra Belt very slim.
This form factor could potentially have a lot of merit and not just for weight savings. I suspect it might be more conducive to shooting positions that require more flexibility at the waist. If you have ever tried certain shooting positions like “rice paddy prone” with a wide belt digging into your ribs, you know what I mean.
PredatorARMAMENT is your go to place for Ares Armor Gear like the Micro Cobra Belt.
Now if only they would make their regular belts with a micro buckle.
I just cant handle how big a normal cobra buckle is.
Would love to know what the stats are in comparison to a standard size cobra buckle.
I was so intrigued by the design that I just picked one up to give it a try. I like the idea it can mount belt mounted AND molle mounted pouches- several times I have found a holster or a pouch that works for either molle or belt mounting, but not both, and I end up not able to mount the specific gear I want on my gun belt. We’ll see if this solves that problem!
