New QD sling from SOB Tactical

Introducing the new Sheriff of Baghdad MFQD swivel B-Sling

June 3, 2019 – SOB Tactical is proud to announce the latest addition to the B-sling line up, the new MFQD. The MFQD, (Movement Free Quick Detach) swivel solves the problem of excessive movement common to nearly all QD swivels on the market. The MFQD Swivel is available now at SOBTactical.com.

When QD swivels were first repurposed from the sporting market to the tactical world, they retained the “swivel” loop attachment commonly used on rifles for the last 100 years. This movable bail swings like a bucket handle, and has been prone to failure under load and heavy use. If the movable bail loop fails, the release button will eject and will lose its ball bearings rendering the entire QD is useless. Shrek has seen this failure occur numerous times, and has separated the working systems to insure less failures by making it an unbreakable one piece.  Additionally, when slinging a carbine to go hands-free and releasing positive control of the weapon, the weight and position of the weapon shifts and sags with the legacy design. This unwanted movement is greatly reduced by the MFQD.

Constructed from Billet 7075 T6 Aluminum and Milspec Anodized, the MFQD features a single, solid body construction that follows the profile of the weapon. The unique triangular shape is rounded and streamlined to reduce snags, and sits low to the weapon wherever attached. Internally, the MFQD features tempered stainless steel bearings and release spring for longevity, reliability and corrosion resistance.

“Our new MFQD is specially designed for combat arms of all types,” said John “Shrek” Mcphee, owner of The Sheriff of Baghdad Tactical. “We developed the smartest solution to the movement challenge of every other QD swivel on the market.” Paired with the classic SOB Tactical B-sling, the new MFQD swivel creates a winning combo. McPhee has been developing B-slings for more then 20 years, each one with the gunfighter in mind. From Bosnia to Iraq and Afghanistan, the B-Sling has proven itself countless times on the battlefield.  “Our new B-sling with MFQD swivel is simple, practical and uses minimal materials to keep the weight and bulk down unlike the many ‘over engineered’ sling designs that have flooded the market in recent years,” continued McPhee.

Versatile enough for any rifle, it is extremely intuitive to use allowing quick adjustments with your non-firing hand using the lanyard release equipped buckle. With this design, the adjustment buckle remains in the exact same position regardless of how loose or tight the sling is, so you’ll never have to search for it or take your eye off target. Simply pull the free end near the lanyard towards your body to tighten. Grab the lanyard and push rifle to firing position to loosen and shoot. The MFQD B-sling employs “Quick to shoot” (Q2S™) technology as this is the most important function of any rifle sling in combat, to get the weapon back into the fight instantly from an administrative mode of carry.

The new MFQD is available now at sobtactical.com, in Black, Coyote, Ranger Green, Multicam and Multicam Black, with more colors coming soon. Each sling comes with a color matched combat band for sling stowage. For dealer and distributor inquiries, please contact sales@sobtactical.com All B-slings are made with pride in America with 100% Berry compliant materials, by Americans who are blind.

New from TOPS: SXS and HAKET Lumberjack

TOPS Knives just rolled out two new designs. The first is the EJ Snyder designed SXS and the second is a new version of the HAKET called the HAKET Lumberjack.

SXS

Whether you’re looking for a knife to complement the SXB or for a solid all-around 5” blade, Skullcrusher’s Xtreme Sidekick (SXS) has your back. This is the slimmed down version of the SXB that many have been asking for. It’s got the same blade shape as the SXB, which is proven useful for a variety of tasks, with some modifications to the handle that make it perfect in the mid-sized knife category. Add in a Kydex sheath that gives the user multiple mounting options right out of the box, and you have a knife that stands out by itself just as much as it complements the SXB.

HAKET Lumberjack

The HAKET was debuted at SHOT Show in 2010. Both of the blades currently available for it are very small, and while they’re great for survival situations, TOPS wanted to make an option that had more real estate for chopping wood. Enter the Lumberjack. It’s got a 4.5” cutting edge on the ax portion and is upgraded with Kydex blade covers and the deluxe carrying pouch to fit all of your extra survival goodies. The blade attachment can be used with or without being attached to the handle and can be mounted in a couple of different ways making the HAKET an excellent choice as a survival tool.

Affordable, USA Made Push Button Sling Swivels at IWC

A long time ago, I bought my first two QD sling swivels for the lowest price I could find which was around $14 each. Those swivels turned out to be absolute garbage. They were so bad, that they rocked noticeably in some sockets and wouldn’t lock into others at all. I learned quickly to buy quality swivels which usually means making sure they are made in the USA since there aren’t usually any branding marks on them to indicate a quality manufacturer.

For several years now, I have just purchased my swivels at Impact Weapons Components. They sell USA made, LMT swivels for $11.35 in a world where most other retailers are charging $15 or more. I get most of my sling mounts at IWC too so it just works out to pick up the swivels at the same time. Although, I usually have a small tray of swivels purchased from IWC in my firearms specific tool box so that I always have them when I need them.

Note: The “TRIGGERJERK” discount code does not work on these as they are not made by IWC. It still applies to all items actually made in house by IWC.

Texas to Decriminalize Knucks

That title could have read, “Texas to Decriminalize Small Pieces of Material with Holes in Them.”

Brass knuckles or knucks, as they are often referred to when they are designed for just single or two finger use, are a simple thing – just a chunk of metal (or wood, or leather, or micarta, or…) with a hole or holes in it. However, they are a ton of fun to collect in the same way people collect knives or other handmade items because makers riff on that simple theme in so many ways.

The simplicity of something like a knuck also highlights how ludicrous it is to ban such an item that is so easily made or improvised, yet many states do. Texas law currently prohibits processing, transporting, and selling brass knuckles but that will change on September 1st when the newly signed HB 446 will take effect. HB 446 will remove brass knuckles from the prohibited weapon list.

Texans, congratulations on taking back even just a small amount of your freedom. It’s time to start window shopping for knucks!
