Snake Hound Machine Advanced Combat Targets

Snake Hound Machine (SHM) has partnered with Down Range Firearms Training and Dstein Dzigns to create the Advanced Combat Targets. The design has several features including a typical silhouette style target overlaid with an anatomical diagram. The anatomy component of the target makes it useful for more than hole punching with your firearm of choice. The target can also be used for the lecture component of a shooting course or first aid class. It also has some of the slick branding that you have come to expect from SHM.

SHM Loudener

SHM Loudener 1

Snake Hound Machine will not stand for any further sissification of muzzle devices. Some muzzle brake and compensator manufacturers fall all over themselves to claim their device washes over your ears like a gulf air sea breeze or tickles your ear lobe like a hummingbird fart. Owen, the owner of Snake Hound Machine, designed the Loudener to make your ears bleed, kick in your teeth, and knock the wind out every one who has the audacity to stand next to you and he is darn proud of it.

There is no “tactical application” for this device. It exists for the same reason people keep wolves as pets.

Check out the SHM Loudener on SnakeHoundMachine.com or just listen for a minute, you’ll probably hear someone banging away with one a few counties over.

Snake Hound Machine Standard Glock Package

SHM Standard Glock Package

Snake Hound Machine (SHM) loves liberty and they love Glocks. I guess that’s why we get along so well. SHM’s new Standard Glock Package is now available for Gen 3 and 4 Glocks. The Standard Glock Package includes several quality parts and a whole mess of hand fitting which you don’t have to do with Glocks but it can go a long way toward smoothing the action.

The I.C.E. Claw EMS rear sight is hooked to make one handed emergency manipulation easier, and it is paired with a green fiber optic front sight. SHM polishes a 3.5# connector and Zev Fulcrum SS Trigger and Trigger Bar to create a 3.5# trigger pull with minimal pre and over-travel. The package is topped off with a Lone Wolf Extended Magazine Release. You can also add an INFORCE APL and Off The Grid Concepts holster as an option at the time of purchase.

The Shoot Heard ‘Round the World

Snake Hound Machine (SHM) recently organized a first class Patriots’ Day celebration called The Shoot Heard ‘Round the World. It was a great success that saw the convergence of patriot gun owners, manufacturers, and media. There was much shooting to be done, training to be taken, and gear to ogle.

You can view some pictures of the event and check out auctions of some of the SHM Rifles that were present at SnakeHoundMachine.com.

VEPR 54R as a DMR?

I recently came across a post on M4Carbine.net that caught my eye. Scot, the head honcho of RS Regulate, started the thread and it outlined his plans for using a VEPR 54R chambered in 7.62x54R for a DMR project. It all sounds a bit like a modernized Dragunov to me and that is pretty darn cool. It also doesn’t hurt that 7.62x54R is still fairly widely available at low prices during this current ammo buying frenzy.

RS Regulate DMR

The RS Regulate VEPR 54R DMR build includes:

  • Vepr 54R 20″
  • Cut and crowned to 18.25″
  • Threaded 5/8-24
  • Surefire SOCOM 7.62FH
  • Krebs Vepr Rail
  • Vltor ModPod
  • RS AK-303 lower and AKR upper
  • Red Star Arms trigger set at 3#
  • Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10×32 FFP MIL/MIL
  • Magpul PRS stock

Interestingly enough, Snake Hound Machine has also been working on a very slick 7.62x54R project that was profiled on Four Guys Guns yesterday. The SHM build has more of a battle rifle bent to it than a precision bent like the RS Regulate project.

I am not sure what to think of all these slick 7.62x54R AK pattern rifles that are suddenly catching my eye. Maybe people are just really clever at finding ways to keep shooting during the ammo crunch or maybe the universe is trying to tell me I need a VEPR 54R DMR.
