Diamondhead DIAMOND (Gen. 2) Flip-Up Rear Combat Sight

The new Diamondhead Generation 2 Flip-Up Rear Sight takes the diamond-in-diamond sighting concept that Diamondhead pioneered to the next level. It features the same diamond-aperture of the previous version with new diamond shaped protection ears. The new design claims to improve acquisition since the rear sight now more completely mimics the shape of the front sight.

Proto Tactical Z-Comp

Every time you log onto an internet forum there is a new AR-15 compensator available. It takes some pretty solid performance to make a comp stand out from the crowd. One of the new comps that is garnering some attention is the Proto Tactical Z-Comp.

The Z-Comp gets its name from its proprietary “Z” shaped vents which it uses in conjunction with internal chambers to reduce muzzle rise. Users are reporting that this comp is very effective at controlling muzzle rise and, surprisingly, it doesn’t have the typical face melting blast that many comps display. By all accounts, this looks like a comp to keep your eye on.

Check out ProtoTactical.net and you can purchase the Z-Comp on Ebay.

XS Sight Systems XTI (Xpress Threat Interdiction)

The offset iron sight concept has caught on in competition and tactical circles for use with magnified optics. The sights allow the shooter to use the magnified optic to engage targets at a distance and then quickly transition to iron sights to engage closer targets without changing their cheek weld. The latest of this type of iron sight that I have seen, and the lowest in price, is the XTI (Xpress Threat Interdiction) from XS Sight Systems.

The XTI uses XS Sight Systems’ well known express sight design with a shallow “V” shaped rear sight and a large dot shaped front. While these sights aren’t my favorite for handguns, I think they could be well suited for this particular role and might benefit from the additional sight radius that this application offers. This looks like it could be an more reasonably priced, though less versatile, alternative to an offset red dot sight.

Law Tactical Gen 2 AR Folding Stock Adapter

Have you ever thought it would be nice to have a folding stock on you AR-15? I suspect that most of you have and you are not alone which is exactly why Law Tactical makes their AR Folding Stock Adapter.

The AR Folding Stock Adapter is a hinged mechanism that can be installed between the lower receiver and receiver extension (buffer tube) on any standard AR-15 lower. It allows the stock to fold to the bolt release side of the receiver. Due to the nature of the AR-15 recoil system, it should not be fired while the stock is folded which is potentially a very large downside to this adapter since there is nothing to prevent the user from firing.

The Generation 2 AR Folding Stock Adapter will be released very soon. It features several improvements over the original version including:

  • Lower profile housing
  • Redesigned hinge system with steel shoulder bolt
  • Enlarged steel locking lug
  • Adjustable hinge tension (holds stock in folded position)
  • Steel locking latch
  • Quick detach sling attachment point
  • Adjustable steel bolt carrier extension
This stock adapter has me dreaming of a lightweight bug out rifle that fits in a backpack and deploys in seconds. Check out the Gen 2 AR Folding Stock Adapter at LawTactical.com.
