BladeBomb.com

BladeBombLogoOn Jerking the Trigger, I have always tried to shine a light on small businesses who are doing innovative and noteworthy things in the realm of firearms and tactical gear. My goal is to do the same thing for the knife industry with my new site, BladeBomb.com.

Blade Bomb is going to be a clearinghouse for news about edged tools and related gear with an emphasis on spotlighting the little guy. I want to show you makers that you might never hear about without a site like Blade Bomb. I want to uncover the craftsmen that are making amazing knives right in your neighborhood. They are everywhere, doing amazing things with their own two hands and I intend to show you.

TIHK at Vigilant Gear

You can always count on Vigilant Gear to carry the most interesting E&E/urban survival gear. Their latest addition is the TIHK or Tiny Inconspicuous Handcuff Key.

TIHK at Vigilant Gear

TIHK is a very compact, non-ferrous, handcuff key with a built in clip that makes it easy to carry in a number of ways including on your rear belt loop where it is accessible in the event that you are cuffed behind your back. The TIHK was designed as a discreet, EDC handcuff key for the purposes of evading unlawful arrest such as those traveling in hostile countries or to aid in escape from home invasions.

CLEER Medical

CLEER MedicalWhen Raven Concealment Systems and Eleven 10 announce that they are joining forces to create a new medical supply manufacturer, it grabs my attention. They have already collaborated in the past on a low-vise medical kit (see Soldier Systems Daily) and I expect we will be seeing other slick kit rolling out of CLEER soon.

FLIR ONE

The FLIR ONE, a new thermal imaging case for the iPhone 5, is pretty slick on a number of levels. The nerd in me thinks it is very cool to see the cost of thermal imaging equipment falling (the FLIR ONE’s expected retail is under $350). The concerned citizen in me sees all kinds of potential for monitoring what is going on around the house. The gadget lover in me is currently shaking, in a cold sweat, and unable to utter anything other than “Want!’

FLIR-hand-thermal-imaging-phone

FLIR ONE uses your iPhone’s screen to display an image that is an amalgamation of an actual picture and the thermal image. This combined image offers higher resolution.

It has its own on-board battery supply and will be available in three colors, none of which are Flat Dark Earth (space grey, white and gold). FLIR will be releasing a development kit so, hopefully, developers can come up with some useful ways to integrate FLIR ONE’s thermal imaging into other apps.

There is a thread on M4Carbine.net with a ton of useful information about the FLIR ONE and its potential capabilities.
