TOPS Knives FORK IT Prototype

TOPS Knives sent their marketing director, Craig Powell, on an expedition to the jungles of Columbia with Bushcraft Global. They  weren’t about to miss out on some product development opportunities so they didn’t send him empty handed. The image below shows a prototype for the F.O.R.K. IT, a combination spork/knife/bottle opener.

TOPS Knives FORK IT

You may looking at the F.O.R.K. IT and wondering how in the world you are supposed to hold it. TOPS has you covered, or rather they have the sharp part covered. The included sheath covers the sharp bits and maintains access to the bottle opener.

This is just a prototype and it may not see production. It is always interesting to get a peek behind the curtain at places like TOPS Knives.

Triple Seven Gear – Nano Medic

Triple Seven Gear turns out the coolest little EDC organizers on the market and for every single one that they bring to market, they produce a matching first aid kit. Their most recent organizer, the Core Nano Wallet, is pretty darn compact so that called for a very compact medical insert.

The Nano Medic is designed to ride in Core Nano Wallet’s vinyl pocket. It includes several wound care essentials like several sizes of band-aids, Steri-Strips, burn cream, triple antibiotic ointment, hydrocortisone cream, and alcohol prep pads. That is enough to clean out and cover a cut in pretty nasty conditions.

UW Gear APC Chest Rigs

UW Gear is venturing into new territory. All of their previous chest rig designs have featured integral pouches with a bit of MOLLE real estate for adding GP and blow out pouches. Their new APC, or Armed Prepared Citizen, pouches are their first foray into all MOLLE chest rigs.

The APC chest rigs are designed to be as slick and compact as possible so that they can be packed with a truck gun or AR pistol/PDW concept gun. Their harness is a simpler webbing version of UW Gear’s standard H harness. The APC-1 has a 6×3 PALS grid that is perfect for a 3x or 6x magazine shingle or 2 magazine pouches along with a pistol mag pouch or blowout pouch. The APC-2 has an 8×3 PALS grid that gives the user even more option while still remaining relatively compact.

Smith & Bradley Ambush – Updates

Smith & Bradley have have given their Ambush model watch a bit of a make over in the form of a new hand set, a new sleeker buttons, and lume that matches the LCD screen illumination.

The previous hand set was a bit chunkier and covered more of the digital elements of the watch. The new set are skeletonized so that they don’t obscure as much of the watch face and they look pretty darn good too.

The new pusher is more of a sleek, dome shape. The previous version had a mushroom shape. The new design reduces the chance of the watch catching on gear or clothing. Finally, the lume on the face and hands has been changed to a blue color that matches the illumination of the digital components of the watch.

If you aren’t familiar with the Ambush and it’s many functions, see our original post from when this watch was released. The high points are that the Ambush is a watch with both analog and digital elements. It has the readability of an analog with with many functions of a digital including an alarm, hourly chime, and chronograph. It also has the ability to display the time in two time zones simultaneously – one on the digital display and one on the analog display. The movement is Swiss and the watch is assembled in the USA. On top of all of that, it has an advanced compass features that can show your bearing and a user settable azimuth.
