The new sheath is a kydex, pancake style belt sheath that is manufactured by Survival Sheath Systems who has been molding kydex longer than just about anyone. It is set up for a vertical draw and is available in black and coyote brown.

What do you get when you splice the DNA of a karambit and a pikal knife? Something pretty wicked like the PKM from Max Venom.
PKM stands for Pikal, Karambit Mix and it is a pretty good descriptor of what the PKM is. It features the distinctive finger ring of a karambit with the reverse edge that is typical of a pikal design.
This design is basically a response to those who want a larger version of Max Venom’s fairly well known karambit-based last ditch knife – the Karambite. Like the Karambit, the PKM is designed to be slim and easy to conceal at just 6.625″ of overall length. It is ground from S35VN steel and comes with a compact kydex sheath.

The ShivWorks Clinch Pick, a near legendary custom produced defensive knife, was previously only available in very small numbers at custom knife prices. Now there is a readily available production version that costs considerably less and is much easier to get your hands on.
The production version of the Clinch Pick is made from 12C27 steel which may not be a premium steel but it is fairly stain resistant and easy to sharpen. The handle slabs are black G-10 and it comes with a kydex sheath that is similar to the custom version though slightly bulkier around the grip (future sheaths should be improved). ShivWorks is having this production version made in China in a factory that does production work for several notable US manufacturers. Initial reviews have stated that the fit and finish is near perfect.

How cool is this!?!?! Godspeed Tactical is now making a belt buckle sheath for the ESEE AH-1 survival arrow heads. You read that right right. It’s a belt buckle with an integral sheath or maybe it’s a sheath with an integral belt buckle. Either way, it’s awesome.

Southern Grind is a knife manufacturer that is easy to like. They are owned by Zac Brown of the Zac Brown Band, they funnel part of their profits into Zac’s charity Camp Southern Ground, and they make great looking knives. They recently released a video that gives a behind the scenes look at their operation.
You will see plenty of advanced machinery but no knife will ever be great without plenty of time in the practiced hands of a craftsman. This is the dichotomy that you will find at many modern knife makers. As advanced as we have become, it is hard to imagine craftsmen will ever truly be replaced by machines.
