Carbon Tactics Launches Ti Slice 2.0 on Kickstarter

Carbon Tactics has launched the Ti Slice 2.0, a gentleman’s EDC box-cutter, on Kickstarter. As is typical for them, it is already fully funded. They have been very successful in launching their products on the crowdfunding platform.

I own one of the original Ti Slices and it is an excellent. I use mine as a “public knife” (learn more about the public knife concept here). It is compact, lightweight, easy to carry, and very classy in appearance. The new Ti Slice 2.0 doesn’t reinvent the wheel or change anything that works. The only major difference is the availability of an aluminum version which SIGNIFICANTLY reduces the cost of the Ti Slice.

As usual, Carbon Tactics is offering some great perks for those who fund the project including some slick lanyard beads and a fire bead – a bead than can be scraped to create sparks for fire starting. The project has already been fully funded but the perks are still available.

Rainier Knives Introduces Fastpak Scale Kit

The Fastpak from Rainier Knives is an ultralight fixed blade knife for EDC or outdoors. Even with the new scales, the Fastpak weighs in at a scant 2.55 ounces including the sheath.

The scales are available as a kit for those who already own a Fastpak or as an optional accessory for those purchasing new Fastpaks. The scales are relieved so that the original sheath can still be used with the scales installed. They are available in Black, Green, or Natural Micarta.

Two New Knives from TOPS Knives – The A-Klub and Poker

TOPS Knives just released their two newest knives for 2019. Both have interesting stories behind their designers. The Poker is designed by TOPS Knives’ General Manager and the A-Klub is the first TOPS knife designed by a woman.

A Curious Combination of Kiridashi and Karambit

Loosely based on a kiridashi, TOPS’ GM Craig designed the TOPS Poker as a sort of last-resort self-defense knife that will also excel as a general-purpose EDC knife. Craig came up with the idea after making a kiridashi by hand in his spare time. Holding the finished knife, it became apparent it would also make an excellent tool for self-defense, so the design was modified to include a finger ring. You’ll find regardless of the reason you choose to carry the Poker, it will be up to the task.

First Female Designed TOPS Knife

TOPS is known for a few things: differentially heat treated 1095 blades, over-built unique designs, and working with outside designers (among other things). This knife hits all of those categories, and is also the first to be released by TOPS that was actually designed by a woman. Amanda Kaye is probably best known for having appeared on Naked and Afraid. She is no stranger to hard work having grown up hunting and learning Native American survival skills. The A-Klub was even designed based off of influences from Native American war clubs.
