Scalarworks LDM Repeat Zero Test

Scalarworks has produced a video that shows very graphically how well their mounts repeat zero after being removed and replaced on the rail. The test shows 100 shots being fired in groups of 10 with the optic being removed and reinstalled between each volley. The optic steadfastly returns to zero in each case. They didn’t just test the LDM on any old carbine. They mounted it on a .308 battle rifle known for being very hard on optics, the FN SCAR 17.

In my own testing, I saw no discernible zero shift when removing and replacing the mount.

Issue Box from Tactical Walls

The folks at Tactical Walls have a gift for hiding firearms right under your nose (you’ll get that joke in a moment). Their newest discreet firearm storage product is the Issue Box, a cleverly designed tissue box cover that looks innocuous in any room of your house.

The Issue Box looks like any other tissue box cover. Its clever design gives the appearance of holding a full size box of tissues when, in fact, it actually holds one of the shorter boxes. The creates a void under the tissues that can be filled with the handgun and magazine (or flashlight) of your choice which are held in place by a customizable foam pad.

You simply life the top of the Issue Box to access the handgun beneath. Access is very fast and easy.

The front attachment point is a UWL which is a great way to attach a modern sling to the AK’s forward sling loop. It is also great for south paws because it can be fixed to the sling loop and passed between the barrel and gas tube to move the sling over to the ejection port side of the AK.

Check out the Limited Edition AK Sling V3 at a special price. If you have missed previous versions of this sling, you’ll regret missing this one too.

Flip Up Sights – New Back Up Iron Sights from LMT Defense

LMT Defense has introduced a interesting set of front and rear back up iron sights that they are calling Flip Up Sights. That isn’t a creative name but it is descriptive.

flipsights_combo

The LMT Flip Sights have a detent to lock them into the deployed position and are designed to collapse at a specified break away pressure. The positive detent prvides the best of both worlds – a sight that will lock into the deployed position repeatably and still absorb impact by collapsing.

Separate 5.56 and .308 versions of the sights are available with BDC calibration in yards. The .308 version is calibrated out to 800 yards and the 5.56 version out to 700 yards.

The Flip Up front sight uses a standard front sight post which allows the user to replace it with any number of aftermarket options.

The LMT Defense website is currently light on information. You can click here to view a PDF data sheet regarding these sights.
