New from Blue Force Gear: Vickers ONE Sling

If you take the venerable Blue Force Gear Vickers Combat Applications Sling (VCAS) and put it on a diet, you would probably end up with something pretty close to the new Vickers ONE Sling.

The Vickers ONE Sling (VOS) shares many of the same features with the classic VCAS. It has Blue Force Gear’s excellent webbing, their extremely durable custom hardware, and the quick adjust slider with contrasting pull tab. However, unlike the standard VCAS, this slimmed down version has 1″ webbing (the VCAS has 1.25″ webbing). This makes the VOS more easily compatible with some firearms like the CZ Scorpion Evo or others with integral 1″ sling loops. It also makes for an extremely lightweight sling for applications that do not require a wider or padded sling.

You can check out the new Vickers ONE Sling at Blue Force Gear.

Aridus Industries Aimpoint Micro Mount for Beretta 1301

If you want a shotgun for defensive use, you would be hard pressed to beat the Beretta 1301. If you want an optic to use on that shotgun, you would be hard pressed to beat an Aimpoint Micro. It looks like Aridus Industries has a plan to let you do just that.

They gave us a sneak peek at a prototype optic mount for the Beretta 1301. It allows the user to mount an Aimpoint Micro and uses what appears to be an XS Sight Systems rear ghost ring assembly to co-witness with the Aimpoint. The prototype is machined from 6061 aluminum and obviously left in the raw. Aridus Industries states that the design still need some tweaking and there will likely be changes before it is offered for sale.

Desert Tech MDR Update

for_item_2241

Desert Tech’s MDR is one of the most hotly anticipated rifles on the market. However, like most new firearm designs, this bullpup has seen some delays in coming to market. Here is the latest update from Desert Tech:

November 1, 2016
Dear Valued Customers,

The MDR is in longevity testing and most of the MDR parts have already been transitioned into production. We expect all parts to be in production within the next few weeks. Our goal was to get the first batch of MDR’s completed in December but a number of small unexpected delays have pushed it into January. The production ramp-up is expected to be at full capacity by March 2017. This is the most current information we have and we will alert everyone of any changes. We will also try to share more insight with you on the MDR’s performance during November. We truly appreciate everyone’s patience and support.

Sincerely
Nicholas Young

Faxon Firearms 18″ GUNNER Profile AR-15 Barrel

Faxon Firearms’ GUNNER Profile AR-15 barrels are very interesting barrels across all the lengths that they offer but they are especially interesting in the 18″ and 20″ lengths. This profile is a sort of hybrid between government profile and a pencil/lightweight profile – or you can think of them as a lightweight version of the SOCOM profile. Basically, they have a government profile behind the gas block and a lightweight profile in front of the gas block.

All of that means that they feel very light because of the weight distribution but have a bit more “meat” where it counts. I have recently handled two rifles built with the 18″ barrel that almost messed with your mind. They handled more like a 16″ lightweight or medium contour barreled AR-15 than an 18″ rifle.

These GUNNER Profile barrels open up the possibility of relatively lightweight and fast handling AR-15 builds that handle like a shorter carbine but reap the benefits of increased velocity and smoother cycling associated with rifle gas, 18″/20″ barrels.

The 18″ GUNNER Profile Barrel is in stock right now and on sale. Check them out at FaxonFirearms.com.
