The new SLR Rifleworks AK Billet Stock is machined from 6061 aluminum billet and weighs 9.5 ounces. It attaches via the bolt hole pattern commonly found on folding stock adapters like those from ACE and StormWerkz. The stock has been broken of any sharp edges for comfort, is compact in length (7.5″), and features two QD sling swivel sockets.

First Ever – AK Gunstruction User’s Choice Build – May 2017
Gunstruction’s last big release brought with it the ability to build virtual AKs. Now, about a month later, Gunstruction has compiled the parts selected most often by Gunstruction users into a single User’s Choice Build. This is not intended to be a cohesive build (though it may work out that way) but rather a compilation of the most popular parts in various categories based on Gunstruction’s data. It is an interesting window in consumer trends.
We don’t have any trends to compare this build against since this is the very first AK User’s Choice Build but there are still some interesting observations we can make. Magpul continues to dominate the grip and stock categories among Gunstruction users, even when they are building AKs. It’s also interesting that a 7.62×39 AK was chosen as the most popular starting platform.
Sneak Peek: CDM Gear MTRS Light Mount for Mossberg 590 Shockwave
CDM Gear gave us a sneak peek of their upcoming MTRS Light Mount for the popular Mossberg 590 Shockwave. The MTRS provides two sling mounting options (for slings up to 1.25″ wide) and a rail section for affixing a pistol light the like the Streamlight TLR-1 shown in the image below. The rail can be placed on either side of the shotgun to accommodate right and left handed shooters.
The MTRS is designed to mount between the barrel and magazine tube so it can not rotate under tension. The mount is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and will have a hard anodized finish.
These mounts should be available in July with an MSRP just below $40. CDM Gear doesn’t offer pre-orders but they will notify you when the mounts are available if you email shockwavemount@cdmgear.com (notification only, no product questions will be answered at this email address).
PHLster TuckStrut and Classic Holster
PHLster released details today for two products that they have been teasing for weeks – the TuckStrut and full size Classic Holster.
The TuckStrut is a new piece of hardware developed by PHLter and Henry Holsters. The strut has an integral wing feature that serves to turn the butt of the handgun in toward the wearer for better concealment. It is tuckable and completely ambidextrous for use on right or left hand holsters. You can expect to see the new TuckStrut on PHLster holsters as well as in use as an OEM product for other holster makers.
PHLster also released news on their first full size holster in some time. The Classic was originally available through their custom shop but it is now available as a production offering with a number of improvements. The holsters features the aforementioned TuckStrut and a tear drop shaped in-molded ramp on the rear of the holster that work together to ensure that the grip of the gun stays firmly against the wearer for concealment. The Classic is molded for a Glock 17 but with an open muzzle so it also fits G26, G19, G19 with external comps, and G34 sized guns.
The TuckStrut and Classic are in stock and available at PHLsterHolsers.com.
