Mission Spec Starts New Series: ‘Because I Sew That’

Today, Mission Spec (KS) has released the first episode of their new series ‘Because I Sew That’.  A play on words from their previous series ‘Because I Know That’. Mission Spec has noticed the increase in DIY gear creation/modification by end users and seeks to tackle some of the more common questions received on the subject.

In this first episode Brent explains the relatively simple process of turning your CORDURA fabric into functioning webbing for applications such as PALS.  “Nothing here is going to be hyper-complicated. This is really serving as a beginner’s guide to get people rolling.  Seasoned Stitch-Operators are already going to know this stuff.” Says Brent.

Mission Spec welcomes suggestions for future videos and requests they be left in the comments section of the YouTube link.

High Speed Gear® Releases Apex™ Slick Sling

SWANSBORO, N.C. – Feb. 10, 2022 – High Speed Gear® has launched an additional option in their Apex Sling collection.

The Apex™ Slick Sling is a variation of the original Apex™ sling, forgoing the pad portion for a full mil-spec tubular webbing construction. The Apex Slick Sling offers a two-point, quick-adjust capability for rifles, carbines, and comparable sized weapons. The minimalistic design allows for a lightweight, easy to maneuver sling making it practical for any environment. The webbing features Schoeller Nanosphere coating, which resists water absorption and reduces drying time. The Apex™ Slick Sling, like the Apex™ Sling, utilizes HSGI’s patent-pending Double-Tap Slider™ allowing the shooter to have more control over his/her weapon with two levels of friction.

Weighing 0.3 pounds or 136 grams, the Apex™ Slick Sling has a total length of 62 inches. It features a mil-spec tubular webbing along with steel hardware with military grade coating for enhanced durability. The Apex™ Slick Sling is compatible with a wide variety of mounting options and is Berry Amendment compliant. All High Speed Gear® products are hand-made in America with USA made materials.

“For those who prefer a more minimal sling, the Apex Slick offers the same water resistance and adjustability as the original Apex, in a more streamlined product,” said Bill Babboni chief operating officer of High Speed Gear.

The Apex™ Slick Sling is now available for purchase through High Speed Gear Authorized Dealers or on the High Speed Gear® website.

Tracer Tactical x Delta2Alpha Spetsnaz Shovel Cover

What do you get when you combine a shovel, a cooking utensil, an ax, a hammer, a melee weapon, and some ingenuity? You get the venerable Spetsnaz shovel. These tools are just as versatile today as they were when introduced which is why Tracer Tactical and Delta2Alpha have teamed up to develop a modern cover for this venerable old shovel.

The cover features 500D Cordura construction and is MOLLE compatible. It features a hard insert so you can keep the edge of your shovel sharpened without fear of cutting the cover. The image above is a prototype. The production version will have a Fastex buckle closure.

Pre-orders are open now but they will be closing soon.

The NIXIEWORKS Lightfighter Rig or LFR is a load-bearing harness combined with an integrated lumbar pack. This large-capacity LBE concept can be extremely useful for a variety of pursuits like back-country travel or preparedness.

The LFR is functional out of the box thanks to the large lumbar pack complete with integrated water bottle sleeves. It is also easily scalable for a variety of specialized uses thanks to a wide, MOLLE-compatible belt allowing for the addition of pouches, holsters, and other items.

Esstac Chicom 7.62 Triple AK Chest Rig

If you have been following JTT for long, you know I’m a sucker for modernized versions of historic gear. The Esstac Chicom 7.62 Triple AK Chest Rig certainly scratches that itch.

This chest rig has a shape that clearly invokes the Chicom Type 56 chest rigs. However, canvas, buttons, and flaps have been replaced with modern laser-cut laminate materials, open-top magazine pouches, and plenty of MOLLE-compatible surfaces. The pouches feature Esstac’s well-known KYWI insert for retention.
