Crimson Trace Rail Master Pro Series

Crimson Trace has made both lights and lasers that mount in front of the trigger guard before. The problem is that you always had to choose between a light and a laser… until now. They just unveiled the new Rail Master Pro Series rail mounted light/lasers in red (CMR-205) and green (CMR-204).

These compact units offer both a 100 lumen white light and an aiming laser in the same unit. Like other Rail Master offerings, the Rail Master Pro Series are adaptable to a number of different rail mounted applications and are activated via side paddles. They are powered by a front loaded CR2 battery.

I have little doubt that these new units are excellent but I long for the day that Crimson Trace rolls out a similar light/laser combination unit with their “Instinctive Activation” style switch.

Brightshot Flashlight Mount

The new Brightshot Flashlight Mount from MHA Custom is now available. This mount allows the user to attach lights directly to their carbine’s fore end without the need for an accessory rail. It is available for the typical 1″ diameter light and .825″ diameter lights like the Surefire E-Series. There will be models available for use with most tube style fore ends and for use with Geissele Automatics MK I, MK II, and MKIII rails.

Elzetta Alpha Modular 1 Cell Light

I may have just found my next EDC flashlight.

Elzetta 1 cell modular

Elzetta’s new 1 cell Alpha Modular light looks like it has some serious potential. The single battery format, new pocket clip, and legendary Elzetta toughness should make it a great EDC. This will be the first Elzetta light offered with a pocket clip and that is good news for those of you who already own an Elzetta Bravo or Charlie because the clip will be compatible with those models too.

Look for more details and prototypes at SHOT Show 2014. Check out Elzetta.

Rosch Works Update

Rosch Works has already generated plenty of news this year with the introduction of their SL1 Sight Light and they seemingly have no intention of slowing down as several noteworthy developments have come out lately.

The most exciting of these items is probably the Malkoff Devices developed Expansion Kit for the SL1. It consists of a battery tube extender (this configuration will require 2 CR123A batteries) and 500 lumen head assembly. The Expansion Kit will be available soon and, at 500 lumens, will offer twice the output of the SL1 in standard configuration.

Rosch Works has also been showing the SL1 in a FDE finish that looks very good. They should be available soon.

Finally, a lens replacement kit will be available shortly for those who need to replace the standard optical acrylic lens. This may also open the door for new lens options. These should be available on the Rosch Works website in the next few days.

RS Products BM-12 and BM-12G Light Mounts

RS Products has released two new light mounts based on their BM-1 Light Mount. These mounts attach via a unique clamp that lets you decide what angle to set them and allows you put your light right where you need it.

The BM-12G is designed to attach to the magazine tube of a 12 gauge shotgun and the BM-12 is designed to mount to the barrel of a VEPR-12. These mounts are light weight at under 1.25 ounces for the BM-12G and 1.04 ounces for the BM-12. They machined from 6061-T6 aluminum, hard anodized, and feature a 4 slot section of 1913 rail.
