Spyderco Para 2 with Emerson Opener – BladeOps Exclusive

The Spyderco Endura and Delica with the Emerson Opener (Wave) are among my favorite knives of all time. The Endura and Delica are excellent on their own. The Wave adds a new level of one-handed usefulness and nobody executes Wave openers better than Spyderco. I am also very fond of the Spyderco Military series and consider the Para 2 and 3 among the most versatile pocket knives available. With all that background, it’s easy to understand why I am so excited about the exclusive version of the Para 2 that BladeOps just announced.

They will be offering a Para 2 with Emerson Opener. It will have almost everything that makes the Para 2 great – that excellent G-10 handle, the Spyderco Compression Lock, CPM S30V steel, and 4-way pocket clip. There are two main differences between the basic Para 2 and the waved version. The most obvious difference is the addition of the Wave. The second difference is the saber grind that replaces the standard full flat grind.

The Spyderco Para 2 with Emerson Opener is available for pre-order now with an expected ship date of 5/4. If you know anything about Spyderco exclusives, you know they tend to sell out quickly, so act now if you want one.

Terävä Skrama 200

The original Terävä Skrama is a remarkable large knife in terms of its functionality and its affordable price. The Skrama chops, splits, carves, and generally just makes itself handy in the backcountry. It is a favorite of mine and I highly recommend it. But, maybe you’ve looked at the Skrama before and thought that you would prefer something just a bit smaller. The new Skrama 200 may be just the ticket.

The original Skrama 240, with its hand-and-a-half grip and impressive 240mm (about 9.4″) long blade, comes in at 17.93″ overall length. As you might guess from the name, the new Skrama 200 has a 200mm long (7.87″) blade, with a more traditional one-hand grip, has a 13.77″ overall length. It weighs 150 grams less than the original at 320 grams. Both are ground from super tough 80CrV2 steel, feature a 2″ portion of the blade near the handle with a finer 25-degree edge for finer work, and have an overmolded grip.

The Skrama 200 should be easier to pack while still offering a lot of capability and, like the original Skrama 240, it does it all without the high price. The Skrama 200 and the rest of the excellent Terävä line of knives is available at Varusteleka.com.

SPARTAN ANNOUNCES NEW V2 BIPOD BASED ON SPECIAL FORCES DESIGN

Spartan Precision Equipment, known across the world for its innovative hunting accessories, has launched the V2 bipod, a product that has been designed and developed with input from hunters and the military, including personnel associated with the Norwegian Special Forces.

Made from CNC machined 7075 aluminium and top-quality carbon fibre, the V2 is not only light at just 373 grams but incredibly strong. Retailing at $465, it is available in a choice of black or grey corrosion-resistant hard-anodised finish and is designed for long-range tactical rifle platforms.

With attachment options for both Picatinny and M-Lok rails, the V2 connects via a spigot mount enabling the bipod to either be fitted in seconds or hang permanently under the rifle for a rock-steady platform on just about any terrain.

Its quick, adjustable ‘Tac Legs’ are made from carbon and aluminium and extend from 165mm to 225mm with five-pitch settings ranging from fully forwards to fully back. Tungsten carbide feet and durable synthetic boots provide grip on a variety of surfaces. In addition, a lockable cant function helps cope with particularly uneven ground.

Like many other products in the Spartan range, the V2 has a modular design. Its legs are interchangeable with the full Spartan Pro Leg range and the V2 can also be mounted on the Sentinel tripod system or any other product fitted with a Davros mount.

“The V2 carries on our proud tradition of designing innovative products and engineering them to the highest standards from the best materials,” says Spartan’s Rob Gipson. “As ever, we’ve listened to our customers’ needs and have developed a bipod that out-performs and out-functions anything else on the market – even bipods that weigh twice as much. In addition, we’ve engineered the V2 to be flexible, modular and capable of adapting to any environment or shooting situation.”

New from TOPS Knives: Baja 4.5 Reserve Edition

The TOPS Baja 3.0 and Baja 4.5 are my all-time favorite TOPS knives. To me, they stand out in TOPS’ line for their excellent full flat primary grinds, simple but comfortable handles, and they are relatively thin behind the edge making them great all-around cutters. Now there is a new addition to the Baja line – the Baja 4.5 Reserve Edition.

The Baja 4.5 Reserve Edition is very much like the original Baja 4.5 except executed with colors and finishes typical of TOPS’ other bushcraft knives for a classic and classy look. It has a new black traction coating, tan micarta handle slabs, and better-looking handle hardware. Other than that, everything that makes the original Baja 4.5 great is still there like 5/32″ 1095 steel with the excellent TOPS heat treat, a very nice leather dangler sheath, bow drill divet in the handle slabs, well-executed jimping, and more.

Pick up the Baja 4.5 Reserve Edition from an authorized dealer or from TOPS at https://www.topsknives.com/baja-4-5-reserve-edition
