Sneak Peek: FoldAR

What do you get when you combine Dead Foot Arms’ folding stock with a new folding AR-15 barrel mechanism? Well, you get the FoldAR – an AR-15 that can be folded at both the barrel and buttstock ends.

The Dead Foot Arms folding stock adapters have been on the market for some time now so the hinged barrel design is what is really new here. FoldAR states that their product can go from folded in small container, to “fire-ready in less than 5 seconds”. They also claim that the hinged mechanism is relatively light weight, adding only about 4 ounces to the overall weight of the rifle, but robust enough to allow the FoldAR to retain zero through hundreds of foldings in a variety of conditions.

The website states that “The only proprietary operational parts are the upper, forearm, barrel extension and gas tube” which is to be expected. These parts may eventually be available to individuals to build their own folding rifles.

This design has the potential to be very compact when folded – how compact will depend on the selected configuration. Several will be available. We’ve confirmed that FoldAR plans to offer both SBR and pistol variants along with full size rifle options including an AR-10/AR762 sized platform.

Sneak Peek: Chase Tactical SOCC (Special Operations Concealable Carrier)

Chase Tactical is in the process of launching their new US made line of tactical gear and the wraps are slowly coming off some of their first releases, including their upcoming Special Operations Concealable Carrier (SOCC).

The SOCC is a lower visibility carrier with the ability to stack on other load carriage options like a panel or chest rig. It features thin, laser cut shoulder straps to reduce the visible bulk around the wearer’s shoulders. The elastic cummerbund has storage for spare magazines built in. The plate pockets feature plenty of loop material for affixing patches/ID as well as for use when mounting accessories with the industry standard chest rig/panel attachment buckles.

The SOCC will have an MSRP of $174.95 and will be available soon along with more of the new Chase Tactical line of nylon gear.

Bastion Titan Fixed Blade

Bastion continues to turn out new knife designs. Their latest is an affordable fixed blade knife called the Titan.

The Titan features D2 steel with a black PVD coating. It has black G-10 handle slabs over a full tang. The handle includes an unobtrusive guard, jimping on the spine, and a scallop to allow for a comfortable pinch grip. The knife is 8″ overall with a 3 1/4″, saber ground blade.

So far, this all sounds pretty good for $40… However, the Titan does not come with a sheath so the end user will need to source their own.

Sneak Peek: OV Innovations TP3 Teeter Pouch

OV Innovations rolled out the first in their Teeter Pouch series last year. These pouches are ultra-light, versatile, and pack flat when not in use. The original Teeter Pouch mounts to 4 rows and 2 columns of PALS webbing. This makes it a great size for Nalgene 32 ounce water bottles (and even some larger items).

Now OV Innovations has let the lid off their upcoming TP3 Teeter Pouch, a more compact version of the original. The TP3 mounts to a 3×3 PALS grid. While it will still handle larger bottles thanks to its broad range of adjustment, it is better suited to smaller 20 ounce bottles or maybe even a spare rifle magazine.
