This is what happens when you send a gear maker home from surgery with a poorly made arm brace. Dave at Fight and Flight Tactical hasn’t met a problem he can’t solve with the skillful application of Cordura and thread.

Cdh-Tac Finland Makes World’s Cutest Dump Pouch
Can dump pouches be cute? This one that Cdh-Tac Finland made for their personal use is kind of cute I guess. I mean look at it. It’s so little and it’s even trying to act tough by posing next to those cigarettes…
Seriously though, this little guy serves a purpose. I have found that many dump pouches are larger than what I really need and take up more PALS real eastate than I prefer. This one (it really needs a name) folds into a very compact 2 column by 2 row package when not in use and unfolds into a pouch large enough to hold 3 primary mags. It also features a mesh bottom which is a nice addition.
There is no indication that Cdh-Tac Finland will be producing these but, given that they are a custom gear maker, I am sure that you could twist their arm for a fair price. I personally hope they put it into their regular line-up.
V7 Cam Pin
A handful of companies have targeted the AR-15’s cam pin for improvements over the years with varied success. V7’s approach is simpler than most. They start with 4340 steel, heat treat to 43 Rockwell, and the Melonite treat it for durability and corrosion resistance.
The top of the V7 Cam Pin is scalloped and well rounded to allow for less bearing surface and smoother function. The very hard and smooth Melonite treatment should also help here. This is a simpler approach than the rollers that some have used. I can’t say whether you will see measurable benefits from such a part but the concept is certainly interesting.
Of course, as a reader of this blog, it should come as no surprise to you that the V7 Cam Pin is also a bit lighter than a standard cam pin. The scalloped top and a machine indent on the bottom reduce the weight ever so slightly. Making things lighter is what V7 Weapon Systems does. However, the lighter weight isn’t really the point here and they don’t really tout it.

TwistRate – Firearm Friendly Crowdfunding Platform
I know of several organizations who have attempted crowdfunding campaigns only to be hampered or completely shutdown by the sometimes nebulous rules surrounding firearms and related items on the well known crowdfunding engines. Now there is a firearm friendly alternative in TwistRate.
TwistRate works like any other crowdfunding operation. Someone has an idea. They lay out its features and benefits in a campaign on TwistRate. Everyday folks like you and me decide if the idea is worth our hard earned cash and usually receive perks for backing the idea. It’s a simple concept that you are likely already familiar with.
Everyone wants to cheer when a company like this is started but now it is up to you to make sure it sticks around. If you think it is important to have a crowdfunding engine that shares your values on firearms, you need to actually visit and support the site. Check out TwistRate!
WeaponTech AK47 Enhanced BHO Followers
Some shooters can feel when their AR-15 (or other magazine fed rifle with an automatic bolt hold open feature) locks back on an empty magazine and use this as their cue to execute a reload. AK shooters typically don’t have that same cue. Instead, their cue is the click of the hammer falling on an empty chamber unless they use bold hold open magazines.
Until recently, if you wanted bolt hold open magazines you were limited to finding surplus Yugoslavian magazines, new Croatian magazines, or modifying certain types of Chinese magazines. These aren’t necessarily bad options but they are all fairly similar in that they are steel magazines. Now, with the introduction of the WeaponTech AK47 Enhanced BHO Followers, any AK-47 magazine can be converted to hold the bolt open on the last empty.
The WeaponTech AK47 Enhanced BHO Followers are polymer followers with metal reinforcement that replace the follower in any AK-47 magazine (expect the new Magpul MOE magazines) to add bolt hold open functionality. Many AK magazines have detents inside the magazine body that prevent the follower from coming up so high that it interferes with the bolt but these appear to bypass those in order to place the follower at the correct height to capture the bolt.
Like other BHO magazines, the bolt will slam closed as soon as the magazine is removed.
