Bushcraft Global

logoresizeSurvival and wildlife expert, author, gear designer, and all-around good guy Joe Flowers has started a survival/bushcraft company called Bushcraft Global. The company offers jungle survival training in the jungles of the Tanimboca Natural Reserve in Columbia. Their 2 week long trips are designed to be reasonably priced and hassle free. The $2000 cost includes hotel stays (when you aren’t staying in the jungle), food, transportation to and from the airport, and 5 nights in a cabin in Taninmboca, a knife and machete from TOPS Knives, and more.

The skills taught on these trips are many, varied, and versatile. The skills may be practiced in a true jungle setting but they are adaptable to nearly any environment.

X Products Can Cannon – A Reality

x products can cannon reality

The response to the X Products Can Cannon that I told you about a few months ago has prompted to X Products to move forward with production. There is no time frame for availability at this point but soon you will be able to launch soda cans with an AR-15 thus completing your lifelong quest for fulfillment. Soon, you will no longer have to wonder how you managed to live with a 100-150 yard accurate soda can launching gadget shaped hole in your soul. We will all be able to die happy on that day that we first launch a cold beverage into the waiting hands of a friend 150 yards away.

Keep an eye on X Products for more details.

Midwest Industries KeyMod Handguard for the FN SCAR

Midwest Industries recently gave a sneak peek at their upcoming KeyMod handguard for the FN Scar. The handguard extends 6″ forward of the SCAR’s existing handguard to provide the user additional space to grip the rifle and mount accessories. It also provides a continuous top rail over the SCAR’s gas block like MI’s current SCAR SSR rail. The new KeyMod handguard is made from hard anodized 6061 aluminum and adds 7 ounces to the overall weight of the firearm.

Blue Force Gear Micro Rack

It’s here! It’s finally here! The chest rig that I have been hoping Blue Force Gear (BFG) would make since I first laid eyes on RACKminus is now available and it’s called the Micro Rack. As you might have guessed by the name, the Micro Rack is essentially a compact version of BFG’s RACKminus.

Micro-Rigs-MC-Front-800x533

Like the RACKminus, the Micro Rack features BFG’s MOLLEminus technology. BFG uses a series of slots and voids to create a MOLLE compatible matrix rather than the typical webbing on backing design used on most chest rigs. This, coupled with the compact 6 column by 3 row dimensions of the Micro Rack keep its weight to minimum.

Don’t let the light weight fool you into thinking this rig can’t take abuse. It is made from BFG’s durable ULTRAcomp laminate material and its nearly stitch free construction removes many potential failure points.

The cherry on top is that the Micro Rig’s top buckles are spaced to work with Mayflower R&C/Velocity Systems’ plate carriers so you can use it as a stand alone chest rig or a very light weight panel to dock on your plate carrier.

If you want to see the Micro Rack in person, Blue Force Gear will be exhibiting this week at Warrior Expo West. Check out the Micro Rack at Blue Force Gear.
