FLIR ONE
The FLIR ONE, a new thermal imaging case for the iPhone 5, is pretty slick on a number of levels. The nerd in me thinks it is very cool to see the cost of thermal imaging equipment falling (the FLIR ONE’s expected retail is under $350). The concerned citizen in me sees all kinds of potential for monitoring what is going on around the house. The gadget lover in me is currently shaking, in a cold sweat, and unable to utter anything other than “Want!’
FLIR ONE uses your iPhone’s screen to display an image that is an amalgamation of an actual picture and the thermal image. This combined image offers higher resolution.
It has its own on-board battery supply and will be available in three colors, none of which are Flat Dark Earth (space grey, white and gold). FLIR will be releasing a development kit so, hopefully, developers can come up with some useful ways to integrate FLIR ONE’s thermal imaging into other apps.
There is a thread on M4Carbine.net with a ton of useful information about the FLIR ONE and its potential capabilities.

FOSSA-556 – Now GEMTECH HALO Compatible
The FOSSA-556 (see the previous review) is now compatible with the Gemtech HALO suppressor. White Sound Defense tweaked its dimension very slightly. It is now VERY slightly longer in overall length but it sits back further on the barrel so the new version actually reduces the overall length of the host versus the previous version.
The leading edge has also been mildly reshaped to make it more effective at breaking glass which may be useful for some users.
Thankfully, the performance hasn’t changed a bit. It is still offers an incredible level of flash suppression with a side of muzzle control.

IWC QD End Plate Color Change
Impact Weapons Components is changing the finish on their excellent QD End Plate RL to a darker gray/black. Apparently, some people didn’t like how the current lighter gray doesn’t match their Tactical Tuxedos. It is good to know that IWC listens to its customers even if they are kind of whiny.

ALG Defense SCB
Many of you asked about the not so inconspicuous muzzle brake preview that was tucked away in yesterday’s ALG Defense EMR announcement. That, my friends, is the new SCB which stands for either Super Cool Bro or Single Chamber Brake – probably Single Chamber Brake.
The name is pretty fitting since it is a 5.56 muzzle brake with a single expansion chamber. It has a large side port on each side and a larger top port than what you typically see. It is machined from 4140 chrome moly steel and is Black Nitride processed for wear and corrosion resistance.
As usual with ALG Defense, the sister company of Geissele Automatics, the price on these brakes is very attractive. At just $35 retail, it will mitigate recoil, muzzle rise, and wallet hemorrhaging.
