Blue Force Gear Horizontal Ten-Speed Pouch

Blue Force Gear just released the new Horizontal Ten-Speed Pouch that they have already been showing at trade shows. This pouch is a lot like their well known and excellent Ten Speed Triple M4 Mag Pouch in materials and appearance except, as the name implies, it holds the magazines horizontally. This turns the entire pouch 90 degrees from what you are used to.

BFG states that this has two key advantages. First, it speeds reloads since the magazines have to travel less distance and they will have to be turned/twisted less by the user to reach the final orientation necessary to insert the magazine into the mag well. Second, it frees up space on your plate carrier – two full columns in fact on a typical plate carrier plate pocket. That means you have space for a small GP pouch, a compact IFAK, or even a traditional mag pouch with flap retention.

I have had hands on this pouch for a few weeks already and it works quite well. You just mount it on a plate carrier with it open to your support side. The mags are now oriented so you can easily establish a “beer can” grip and move right to the mag well of your rifle. The most notable downside that I have found is that it makes it a bit tougher to access magazines with your strong side but it is still VERY doable and still fast.

I am not sure any other company and their materials could pull this off. Kydex or a nylon/Kydex hybrid would be too bulky to afford the space savings. Nylon alone wouldn’t have the necessary retention. Blue Force Gear’s Ten-Speed pouches hold magazines tenaciously thanks to the mil-spec elastic construction. Their design and materials make this work. The mags aren’t coming out unless you want them to.

The Horizontal Ten-Speed Pouch works best on a plate carrier that lacks a cummerbund flap but it is flat and flexible enough to work on plate carriers that have them.

A pouch like this is different. It will likely be met with skepticism but I have spent enough time with it to be very intrigued. It opens up some interest possibilities.

The Gladiator Chest Rig comes with a 3D spacer mesh lined interior to allow passage of cool air and comfort. The upper section can be folded away to allow access to uniform pockets. This folding section gives you 4 vertical & 4 horizontal strips of MOLLE to allow the attachment of additional pouches such as a Large Admin pouch or Forward Opening Admin pouch. Elastic loops on the shoulder straps are designed to secure comm’s equipment or hydration tubes.
The Gladiator Chest Rig has 4 fixed, closed top magazine pouches, which allows you to carry up to 8 magazines. These magazine pouches are adjustable using the removable Velcro straps. This modification allows the usage of both standard and non-standard 5.56mm/7.62mm (M4 and AK variant weapon systems). If required the ammunition pouches can be doubled up as a comms/radio pouch capable of fitting a PRC 145/152.  The magazine compartment also has drainage holes to allow the release of water should the rig be submerged in water. This rig also offers you two modular panels either side of the magazine pouches; both modular panels give you 3 vertical and 3 horizontal rows of MOLLE allowing you to attach additional pouches if needed.

BCM Mk15 Tritium Watch (Limited Edition)

When a gun company comes out with a branded watch, most watch-guys probably roll their eyes. They are usually just rebranded fashion watches with all the quality of a trade show giveaway. BCM went a different route. Their new BCM Mk15 Tritium Watch is certainly not a cheap quartz rebrand. It is their design from the ground up and they even own the tooling!

The Bolt Action Magazine Well is an easy to install detachable box magazine conversion for the Hunter 700 Stock that allows the user to make use AICS short action magazines. The fact that silencers (sound suppressors) are included under the NFA is absolutely ridiculous. They are regulated on the basis of ignorance, purposeful misinformation, and Hollywood shaped perception. These tools that have so long been portrayed as assassin’s tools are no more than safety equipment for the shooter and those around the shooter. There is finally new legislation that recognizes that and seeks to remove silencers from the NFA which would, by default, lower prices.
