Gunstruction just released a ton of new parts for virtual AR-15 builders to tinker with. The parts include several new barrels from Faxon Firearms, optics and flashlights from Primary Arms, and some gear from Battle Arms Development including their new Trijicon MRO optic mount.

Gunstruction lets you build virtual AR-15s to your heart’s content but sometimes your heart can’t be content with a virtual AR-15… You want a real AR-15. Gunstruction compiles the most popular parts from each category in their virtual AR building tool into a single User’s Choice Build every month. These builds are always an interesting look into consumer trends since Gunstruction’s user base and part selection is fairly broad.

Once again, the AR-15 User’s Choice Build features an EOTech optic. This is a trend that has continued, uninterrupted, for nearly a year in spite of EOTech’s recent and very well publicized issues during this time. The vast majority of these builds feature a Magpul grip and this one follows that trend. I also find it noteworthy that many of these builds feature a barrel with a fixed front sight base in spite of their seemingly waning popularity.

The AR308 User’s Choice Build continues the overwhelming trend of precision oriented parts rather than treating the rifle as more of a battle/general purpose rifle. I find it interesting that while the AR-15 build frequently features a fixed front sight base, the AR308 never does.

Gunstruction’s User’s Choice Builds are comprised of the most popular parts from each category in their virtual AR building software. These builds reflect the parts that Gunstruction users selected most frequently for their virtual builds which makes it a interesting window into consumer trends… and there is always something interesting about these builds.

The AR-15 side of the house continues with the trend of user’s choosing EOTech sights. This has been the case going all the way back to September 2015 in spite of the well publicized issues with their sights. It is also interesting that, possibly for the first time ever, the most popular pistol grip was manufactured by someone other than Magpul (BCM in this case).

The AR-10 builds continue to lean toward precision rather than MBR/general purpose type builds. However, this month the user’s were most excited about a 10.5″ barrel which bucks the trend of 16″+ barrels in previous months.

Gunstruction just released their version 3.3 patch. The new patch contains a ton of new parts, new functionality, and should perform better overall on all platforms.

The latest update to the GUNSTRUCTION player features a new platform in the AR308 builder, the DPMS Gen II. We also added caliber support for 6.5 Creedmoor on the AR308 Platform. Other improvements include messages on the downloading screen, per part notifications, revised sharable URL handling for WebGL players, general bug fixes and optimizations. We are also discontinuing use of the web player, and will be moving all browsers over to the WebGL player.

We have also updated the listings for our manufacturer’s full guns, which may affect some older saves.

On top of this we will be adding almost 200 new parts.
